Don't know if you can get it hot enough , he brought it up to glowing red for just a second in the vid I've watched .

My oven goes to 900*F for it's clean cycle if I remember correctly, so a dark purple should be easily attained based on this chart:

Colour Formed Approx Temperature C
pale yellow 290
straw yellow 340
dark yellow 370
brown 390
purple brown 420
dark purple 450
blue 540
dark blue 600

Temps are in Centigrade on the chart...

Can you get your oven open during the cleaning cycle ? Mine locks and I have to wait to open it even if I turn it off .

According to that guy, I've already destroyed mine. I heated mine until it was beyond glowing red, more of a molten orange. I let up when I was afraid the metal might start melting. And I have a burnt spot, but still never got past a brass color.

Heat has to be applied evenly and slowly from what I gathered.. was your torch turned down? were you rotating your subject as you were heating it?

Evenly, yes. But I had it cooking pretty good... oh well, I wasn't really using this Hornet anyways. I just thought a dark purple rba on a metallic purple Mod would've looked cool. Live and Learn....

Hey guys, I finally tried the KFL+ in nano mode, and think it's pretty good. I do prefer the Kayfun Mini because of its "silky" smooth draw and no whistling, but don't regret buying this one. I have to try the KFL in regular mode with the slightly longer chimney to see if it hits differently.

For now, the KFM is my favorite and would love to hear suggestions on other RBA's with a similar design. You know, something to buy along with my next KFM. I seem to favor a narrower chimney.

FYI...InTaste and Cloud9 are running 20% off sales on authentic KFL's now. The point being, it suggests they are clearing their shelves for the new KFL release. And with holiday shopping season firing up next week it would seem Svoemesto will want to make their new KFLs available very soon. No one knows what the new KFLs are about. There is lots of anticipation to learn though.

The KFM is almost in a class by itself , especially if you start talking price , why not get another KFM clone , you can't go wrong there .

Have you thought about the Erlkönigin? It can be configured with 3ml (nano), 6ml, 8ml, and 20ml tanks. The same company makes a lower cost version called the Erlprinz. I think the spare parts & tanks might be compatible with it.

There are clone versions out, but from what I've read so far, the quality can be all over the place. However, that may have changed since I last read about the clones.

Oh. It can be a bit noisy, but no whistles that I've heard of.

I did say I'm getting another KFM. I agree it's in a class of its own. I just wish something similar was available that wasn't so darn long.

The only other RBA that comes to mind of a similar size is the GP Spheroid but there are no clones available that I know of , and a genuine Spheroid ain't cheap . I can't think of anything else at the moment , Both the KFM and the Spheroid are more or less niche atty's . The genuine KFM is no longer in production , I'm not positive as to the exact reasons but IMO a lack of demand is probably one of the reasons for it .
