In Voltron's case , we're talking about a Magma . Top post screws aren't gonna put him closer to center , he'd have to make more adjustments to get the coil in place going that route .Ok... I do use the through post for my own connection... but they are flawed to an extent. With stiffer wire such as kanthal it isn't as big of a deal but with softer wire like the NI200 used for temp controlled dna 40 boards, it does present one. When you are tightening them up, they don't have something to back the wire with... so the connection is less solid which can make the resistance fluctuate.
