I am so excited to get to meet her and you, and other Reonauts!
This vape meet has been met with a show of force and untruths. Seems it has stirred up enough to warrant media attention.

Vape Meet under attack!

As of now the Management is still allowing the meet to happen. Their request is that any vaping only take place in the conference room. No vaping allowed in common areas of the hotel.

At least they didn't bow down completely to the uninformed cow. Makes me mad. And makes me kind of want to try and work a weekend off to come up there.
Would love to have you! This coming weekend will be interesting that's for sure! Kinda bummed that it is not a carefree vape meet. But if this helps promote vaping and answers questions for would be vapers it is worth it!
Would rather see a lot more people start vaping than just have a good time and talk with those already vaping!
Just brainstorming here, but if you confine it to the conference room could you stay inside the room but leave the doors open? With a big sign in the lobby along the lines of :

Don't know if they will want the doors closed. That is a great idea!
I just called them and asked if vaping in a non-smoking room was allowed. General Manager says NOPE! I had to change to a smoking room so there will not be a chance of a problem. Usually I vape in a non-smoking room. But with all the concerns and confrontation I will follow their rules.
I understand your reasoning, but there is no earthly way for them to know you're vaping in a hotel room.

The maid said she smelled smoke, not vapor. Had the woman denied smoking(truthfully) and not mentioned the ecig, there wouldn't have been a story at all. I believe the cc company returned the cleaning fees to her also. I've stayed in several non-smoking hotel rooms and vaped my head off without any questions from staff.
I have stayed in non-smoking rooms and vaped without issue too but this being a vape meet and the establishment knowing why we are there, and them already (though suddenly) saying NO, it is not worth the risk of being fined.

Exactly how I feel. I don't lie and if asked I would not deny vaping in the room. I will make it a point in any occasion to let the staff know that vaping is not smoking and I was not pleased to stay in a smoking room.
I also have stayed at hotels and vaped in a non-smoking room. But this is different. I don't want anything coming back at us vapers. I am afraid we will be watched like hawks by those who do not want people to vape.
Even with all that is happening I will have fun and enjoy meeting other vapers and vendors!
Well put Karen...I probably won't sleep a wink Sat. night but I got me a room- can always cancel by 3 w/o penalty if I find something/somewhere better.

Karen, this is beginning to seem like it could be a golden oppotunity for us vapers, what with all the publicity. it just might backfire right in that ignorant, greedy, lying, two-faced ...... ugly face!

I wrote a reply but decided not to post it. Instead I will let my actions at the coming meet show my true self.
Kevin Burke and Matthew Olmstead talking with WKYT local TV station in Lexington. Air date and time not yet posted. These guys are stepping up to the plate and putting some truths out there to the general public. Might just see this vape meet be a huge positive for those who want to quit the cigs!
