Just over a week away! FYI we have become a battleground for the ANTZ. Ellen Hahn, director of Kentucky Center for Smoke-Free Policy and writer of This drivel that appeared in the Lexington Herald-Leader this past Sunday, has targeted us specifically. I have it on good authority, that this article was a direct response to the advertising push we have conducted for this meet. I have contacted CASAA about it, and they are aware of it, and said to be prepared for trouble. Although vaping is not specifically mentioned in Lexington's anti-smoking ordinance, I was warned that she may try and bully the hotel into not to letting us do it. I will call them again tomorrow and speak to the GM to assure her that we are engaging in a safe and legal activity, and harmless to other guests. It's pointless to argue with Ms. Hahn, she knows the literature, is aware of the studies that refute her position, and is very aware of CASAA (I have interoffice emails showing their blatant disregard for any data contrary to their position, and actually making fun of CASAA and vaper's in general). In light of this, please include in your expense budget to donate to CASAA. There will be a donation box on site with Das Fuhrer Hahn's picture on it to remind us why we must fight for our rights to breathe free. That being said, looking forward to seeing all of you next Saturday for a kick ... party, complete with around 200 personal fog machines!

We will be there! Have added some money to our budget to help the fight! We are so excited about coming to Lexington.

Ready to get ...... off?

My response to WKYT:

I was hoping, although I know it is short notice, that maybe I could have some time on air to refute the blatant misinformation given by Dr. Ellen Hahn on ecigs. There is a very well respected, researched, and informative e-cig news site based right here in Lexington, KY of whom I am affiliated with, that would love to give your viewers the other side. I think it is only right to give people the whole story, instead of the myopic view from the mouthpiece of an organization that derives all of it's funding from Tobacco settlement money combined with pharmaceutical company grants. There is a vape meet coming to Lexington on August 4th at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center from 2pm-Midnight. Between this appearance on your program, and last weeks Herald-Leader article, Dr Hahn is trying to scare smokers away from something that very well could help them stop smoking. I hope to hear from you soon.

Respectfully submitted,

Matthew Olmstead

Are there any actual shops in Lexington? I will be in the area and have time to kill while my hubby is working?

There was one in Richmond....but was nothing to write home about. They had a nice selection of Egos, terrible chineese juice, and when I asked if they had any 510 LR cartos they didnt. They had 808's and some SR....

Excellent comment left by Kate Ackerman! And, of course, that Matthew Olmsted guy left some great comments as well.

E-cigs not as harmless as claimed | Medicine | Kentucky.com

And I found this one to be succinct and hard-hitting, left by The-Vapor Rater.

Your headline is misleading and you information is incorrect. You have allowed your personal feeling to interfere with what should be an article consisting of facts. Your story simply says we don't have any facts, which, had you actually done ANY research at all, you would have found to also not be true. You are putting the lives of millions of smokers at risk, smokers who may have considered e-cigs but will now just continue smoking putting their own lives, and the lives of those around them at risk. SHAME on you.
