I have a feeling the attention from the smoke free crowd will have the opposite effect on our event than what they'd hoped. Had they left us alone, fewer people in lex most likely would have known about it. But this morning we get TV time! Thanks Ellen!

This is almost certain to be a very big mistake by Ellen Hahn, and is exactly the kind of thing we have been needing.

Direct confrontation with these people will give us the opportunity to expose them for what they are.
And it will also get us the publicity we desperately need to get the public on our side.

I would be somewhat shocked if Dr. Brad Rodu doesn't find a way to get involved in this spectacle.
This has the potential to go national.

He is currently spearheading a revolutionary new project called Switch And Quit Owensboro which is also in Kentucky!!

I can't help but think that this attack by Ellen Hahn is also an attack on Dr. Rodu and the Switch And Quit Owensboro project.
Heck, this might even be some sort of battle between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville.

I don't understand why the August 4 event organizers caved in after the hotel management banned e-cigarette use in many locations of the hotel (due to Ellen Hahn's lies and bullying).

Surely another hotel in the Lexington area would be willing to welcome e-cigarette consumers as hotel customers.

Perhaps its too late now, but I think the event organizers should find another hotel, and then tell the original hotel's management that the originally scheduled event has been cancelled since the hotel reneged on their original contract (by changing their e-cigarette use policy right before the event).

As it now stands, Ellen Hahn is likely to write an article for a tobacco prohibionist journal boasting how she bullied a hotel to ban e-cigarette use in many locations of the hotel in order to disrupt a scheduled meeting of e-cigarette consumers.

I don't think the event organizers "caved". The hotel is still allowing vaping inside the ballroom where the event will be held, which is sufficient for the purpose of the event. Granted, it might still have been moved had there been time, but there wasn't, so... handling it graciously given the circumstances simply seems like taking the higher road, IMO.

FWIW, this whole brew-ha-ha has had the advantage of getting both the event and some accurate information some local air-time, which can't be a bad thing. Way to go, guys!

I live in Missouri but I just wanted to say how proud I am of everyone here - Dave and Redneck - you guys did a great job writing letters and I'm so glad that some positive e-cig info was able to get out to the public. While I am appalled at the lengths these idiots will go to further their own dirty money hungry agendas (did she pocket money? my guess would be a resounding YES!) she has indeed brought public attention to our crusade, which is a good thing. So WTG guys! I applaud everyone's efforts to bring this lady (and I use that term loosely - should actually say LIAR) down a few notches. Let me know if you need anymore letters written or anyone to help stir the pot - I'm pretty good at that

I only wish I was closer so I could come too and provide more support...

I just talked to Brad Bodu on the phone- what a gracious guy, but right now, he doesn't want to get politically involved. Apparently he has other fires going that he doesn't want disrupted. He was astounded however at Hahn's "stretching the truth" by not citing the small trace quantities... I asked him about the 500mg and if nicotine could cause harmful substances to stick to clothing etc., which she asserted in her letter without tar... Anyway, I asked him if he would be willing to do a piece on the actual amount of nicotine in a cartridge and about the stickiness of nicotine itself. We'll see if he does this, even if not in response to her.

Nice work- unfortunately, the comments aren't too good- trying to pin him on receiving funds from RWJF while criticizing Hahn for her involvement with Pfizer.

Oh my, this does appear to be ramping up, and it now appears to me that Ellen Hahn has been elected as the face of the opposition.
I am not sure why Dr. Rodu is backing off in favor of other "fires" when this one could become a major conflagration.

I can only think that he wants to wait until his Switch And Quit project starts showing clinical results.
Or maybe his project is facing a lot of fire behind the scenes, and that is what he's fighting.

I sure wish I knew what was going on, because I was hoping this could become a seminal moment for us.
