I really didn't know where to post this cart mod or atty mod... so I posted in both.....sorry.....Anyway

Idea Spawned from one of Bandits posts

Now I didn't use a 510, but I did use a 306 which fits a 510 connection and is basically the "same"

Parts used.
1. joye306 atty (tubeless atty...exposed)
2. cap for 801 cart
3. dummy 801 mouthpiece
4. filling from an empty cartomizer Kr808 ( i used it because it is rolled)
5. liquid

Drill hole in end of 801 cart cap
insert 306 atty
wrapped filling around atty
dripped approx 30 drips (well drips seem to be subjective here so I would say more drips than I do in a Kr808)

capped with dummy mouth piece

recorded :p I am vaping it pretty hard and getting GREAT vapor

its a rough draft... but it is a creat concept cartomizer hehe

drab sample video.. nothing fancy or "funny"

YouTube - 306/801 hybrid cartomizer

whacha think?

Thanks IKEN
It is basically the same concept as the KR808D cartomizers where the filling surrounds the atty... but bigger

I will load up pics later for a better view... but I am telling you I have been doing about 2 hours straight vaping with breaks here and there hehe... and it's still holding strong

vapor production is good and flavor isn't compromised

the atty stays wet for a long time... flow is good too... the filler does have to be wrapped so there is a little opening in the center (almost like the KRs)

filling is easy and the dummy mouthpiece stays in....

It can always stand a little tweeking,,,, but I could see myself using this regularly

but only time will tell...

Well I have been vaping on it all day... the 306 is a power horse hehe... and with this set up.... cart lasts for awhile and with the filling wrapped around the atty the wicking issue is resolved (for the most part)

things to know

you can use the dummy 306 mouth piece to help you push the atty into the 801 cap AND help wrap the filling around the atty because you still need that little hole in the center for vapor to vent right.

make hole Just big enough so you can push the atty in

it isn't sealed, but with the right amount of liquid no leaks.. plus if you do try this you might want to have the option of moving it up and down the atty (only once in a short while to get the all the juice to contact the bridge.

I do feel if you have all the parts and the willingness to give this a try you will find it quite amazing. even if it is a work in progress

This is interesting....thanks LGD.

As you pointed out, the only concern would be liquid leaking through the mouth hole (er, call it a "flavor hit"). If only there were a wide-topped cart out there that had a reservoir-bottom like the 510s do.
Would the little cart-cup that comes in the 306s fit in the bottom of the 801 mouthpiece to catch the fluid and still let air around the sides? I don't have any 801 cartridges (yet...now I have to try this) so I don't know the dimensions.

Intriguing concept, though. Have to get my hands on some 801 carts now.

I didn't think about that.. it hasn't happened yet but it isn't to say it wont

and no the 510 doesn't quite fit

instead of a dummy 801 mouth piece... use a regular 801 cart take out the fill and cut it down so it wont be in the way

I am working on it now maybe post a pic soon

THANKS

How did you extract the filler from the 808 without damaging it? Did you just pull it out of the mouthpiece end with tweezers or something?

yes with tweezers... i found the easiest way of doing it is popping out the center part of the battery connection first.....if you look at the video again.... you will see what I mean about the cartomizer808
