I've used the Life Brand USP Glycerine from shoppers that did have a manufatured by Rougier Pharma on the label. A "packaged by" is different that a "manufactured by". So for not seeing Rougier on the bottle I can't assess if it is the exact as what I bought at shoppers, but generally the "USP" designation is the thing for safe consumption where standards have been met regardelss of manufacturer.

If you thin out the glycerine I'd suggest using distilled water and NOT tap water. 20% distilled water to 80% glycerine ratio.

non specific "glycerin" may contain animal glycerin - which is not what you want to put in your lungs. I don't know if any tests have been conducted on inhalation - but if anyone knows of a test or study - be worth mentioning.

Vegetable Glycerin USP is what eliquid base is made from.

Also for thinning - try this...

Instead of adding something to your VG - put the closed bottle in a bowl of very hot water and hold it under for 20 minutes. Shake and check. This will permanently thin VG. You may need to do it a couple times to get the viscosity you want - but you don't need to add anything to it. ...

I read somewhere on here that usp glycerin was vegetable, as long as it says usp it's food safe. Just wondering.

Make sure you research this. From my high-school Chemistry, it seems that your glycerin is changing to something else. Glycerin at USP purity has a certain viscosity...period. If the viscosity changes permanently...it's no longer USP grade Glycerin...maybe picked up something from the bottle or just partially reacted/decomposed to some other stuff. Whatever it is, it is no longer 99.5% Anhydrous Glycerin.

Yes, you have a great point. Only thing I can say is what my science teacher once mentioned - time and temperature are the key.

If you just heat a tiny bit and it vaporises and you immediately inhale, that's one thing...the rest of the juice in the carto isn't getting so hot.

All I'm saying is that if the viscosity PERMANENTLY changed, then some chemical reaction has occurred...it might be something totally benign or not. Glycerin USP has a certain fixed viscosity (see the Monograph or the MSDS)...it can't have a wide range of viscosities.

Viscosity is a physical property of a liquid, just like freezing or boiling temperature. It's like pure water boiling at 100 deg C (212 deg F). If it boils one degree higher or lower, it is definitely NOT pure water.

Ran out of VG so I decided to stop by SDM and pick some up - at $6 for 250ml and no shipping costs it certainly does beat ordering online and paying exorbitant Canada Post shipping.

6$ for 250ml, so that's 24$ for 1 litre.

I bought 1 litre for 20.72$ with shipping from voyageursoapandcandle.com :)
