I want to say I am sorry if this ? is in the wrong area. My hubby asked me a ? about the e-cigs that I could not answer. Maybe you all can help.

Since I have quite "smoking" does my life insurance yearly payment go down since I am not at a high risk ? I may have to call my insurance company.

What are your thoughts or has anyone already found out from their insurance co?

to the best of my knowledge, your insurance technically should fall, but, most insurance companies, such as state farm, require a nicotine test prior to any change, but: if you are using term life, you may be locked in....insurance companies have tons of stipulations....and you just never know until you call them...also: if required to take a nic test...i will advise to bite down lightly on the swab instead of putting it in between your cheek and gum, as you will more than likely pass the test with this method.....i know i did when i still smoked analogs x.x

There also may be a waiting period after quitting smoking before you can get a lower rate. The nic test is also very sensitive and some require a blood draw to verify. That test can detect nic from second hand smoke exposure. There will be a range in which you are declared a non-smoker, but they are testing for nic, so the nic you get from an ecig may just be over the limit.

It's a shame that they don't test for the bad things in ecigs and not nic. After all, Alzheimers patients are prescribed nic patches for memory improvement. Are they charged higher rates for life insurance?
