Welcome Mr Gould!!! glad you're aboard ECF... now let me pick your brain. :)

Last physical I had, they asked a question "are you a tobacco user"... I checked no for that. In my mind, An electronic cigarette should be considered at worst, a NRT item. However, as I'm sure you know already, the FDA has classified ecigarettes as a tobacco product, but other identical items such as the Nicorette Quickmist contain the exact same chemicals, but is not considered a tobacco product. So, when I went to the doctor, I would say I was using an NRT.... Now with the FDA regulations, should I now say I am a smoker?

And not to get political, but ever since Obamma care went into effect, It has caused my wife's company to switch insurance companies two times. Now, we're with Cigna, and we're quite displeased with them on how they treat us. My wife's doctor recommended Varicose vain removal due to chronic pain in her legs and feet. Cigna seems to clasify that as a cosmetic change, yet it's something the doctor recommended for pain. She now finds it hard to go up and down stairs, and it's getting so bad she is requesting an office on the first floor (her building does NOT have an elevator). Any recommendations on that predicament?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi @NealBJr, thanks for the post. In answer to your first question, I would encourage you to answer Non Smoker to any query or form. To me, this is a way of showing you don't agree with the FDA on this point. @DC2 says "Vote" and I agree with that as well in the traditional sense of electing vape friendly officials to represent you, but I also say classifying yourself as a Non Smoker is also a way of "voting"!

As for your wife's health challenges, I would contact Cigna and discuss what their standards are with regards to "elective" vs "medically necessary" surgery and work with your doctor to see if you can meet their standard on this problem. Hope that helps.

Welcome David! Great to have you on board.

I'll be contacting you with some questions shortly - great to have your knowledge in our family.

Oh yea, ECF, I'll fix your overreaching banner! If I click the "X", it goes away forever! Don't make me do it!

Rick

Thank you. I know you're more into life insurance instead of health insurance, but sometimes it helps to at least get some direction on where to go when it comes to where to direct concerns and questions...and getting an opinion on someone who works in the general field is definately helpfull.

Voting, yes... definatly.

And I will still classify myself as a former smoker. I remember what it was like when I smoked.. I remember the coughing, wheesing, shortness of breath, the stuffy nose, phlem, etc.... None of that now. IF they question vaping for smoking, I do my best to educate... everyone.

Welcome and thank you for the support. :thumb:
@Super Flex I love the reference to how vaping has given you the gift of time with your little girl! Time is something we are all in too short a supply of and we will never get back that which we might lose due to poor health.
