Life time quality mod? Such a thing in a semi-disposable world.

Very few things have been designed to last the lifetime of the designated user. Is there any mods available that I could expect to be the last one that I need to purchase? There is a thread about proverus and is anybody still using them. I had not even heard of them so I Googled for some information and found out that they were a very high quality product. And that there strive for superior quality put them out of business. Is this what to be expected from this industry? Can I buy a mod that could perhaps be the last purchase necessary? Is there one available as I have purchased several in my very short vaping career.

If you're wanting a regulated mod the electronics are probably going to fail at some point. If you're looking for mechanical mods there are some, though they require more knowledge and routine maintenance than regulated mods do. I have a couple of GG's that should easily last a lifetime short of accidentally drop them into a volcano or something.

@bacc.vap is right--the electronics in almost any regulated device will quit on you given enough use and enough time. The speed at which the technology is growing means that you probably wouldn't want you next regulated mod to be your last, anyway. Unless you just don't think it could get any better.

I have mechanical mods that will easily outlive me.

I can attest to the durability of the Provari. I've owned three, but retired them for more powerful mods. Unfortunately, Provape is no longer in business. You can sometimes find them available used in the classified section here.

I've heard good things about the Geekvape Aegis. Shockproof. Waterproof. Dustproof. It's lone weakness is the display screen breaking if severely abused. No electronic device is completely indestructable, but the Aegis should be able to withstand normal accidental drops on concrete or dunks in the pool with ease.

I think the Aegis family might be contenders. BUT, at some point the chip will fail...
So it's gotta be a mech with a handful of spare parts IMO.

Or parts that can be easily manufactured by hand from hardware store materials? If anyone has seen any devices like that please post them.

Both REO and @customclassics have sites on here and seem nearly indestructible. Parts are available. I have both with parts.

Got on board with a REO a few years ago. Money very well spent. For my style of vaping (30W and lower) it's really the perfect device, and quite stylish IMO(Kawasaki Green).
I agree 100%!
I have had the same SL/LP Grand in my left hand for the last three plus years. Ten dollars worth of parts (hot spring and a Pos contact) and two, five minute repairs have keep the "stop smoking tool" working perfectly.

Speaking of green...I sure miss my olive drab grand, shoulda' never sold it.

You can't go wrong with a REO if you want to squonk. Quality mod at a decent price and good customer service. It's a mechanical which I believe defines "in it for the long haul".
If you don't want to squonk and you want a regulated mod, I'd recommend the Squid Industries Double Barrel. To me, it's a modern day ProVari at a steal of a price. 150w (of which I need about 30), bulletproof construction and an extremely simple, basic chipset. No bells and whistles....no TC...you can talk to it and give it hand gestures but it'll just ignore you . Just a button that's also a dial. Unbelievable battery life and great customer service. $89

I have the hammer tone, some firing pins, springs and adjustable 510 hollow feed screws.

In order to make any regulated mod a "lifetime" mod, one would need spare regulator boards for it, and the skills required to replace them.

Are spare boards available for this mod? If the answer is no, it's not a "lifetime" mod.

All of those mods are good choices, but you aren't protected against loss or theft, unless you have a lot of them (assuming they are at some point banned an become unavailable for purchase). The only way to be 100% future proof is if you learn to make them yourself. It doesn't matter if 3D printed, carved from wood, milled using a CNC machine, or built from project boxes or other generic enclosures.

Of course none of that matters unless you can 100% future proof the atomizer portion, and have plenty of nic stored away as well. There are some YT vids on how to DIY a RDA. I have some other ideas in my head too.

I couldn't agree more....but if he doesn't want to deal with mechanical mods, I wanted to provide a solid regulated choice. Squid is an American company and I have first hand experience with his customer service. He services his stuff quickly and for a reasonable price.

Define ' life time ' .
I have zero doubt my Provape power devices will out live me, or at the least last as long as I continue to vape.
I have a beat up p 2.5 I bought used 4 or maybe 5 years ago, still functions like brand new as do the other p 2.5's I have.
My Radius's were bought about 2 months after they came out, they've absolutely been through 10 times more use & abuse than any other device I've owned most of which lasted a few hours to a couple weeks of my daily use.

I agree with the other posters.
Any reasonably well built mechanical mod should last a lifetime.
For regulated mods Provari (now out of business) and REO both have excellent reputations.
I've been using a Sigelei 213 for a year and a half now, and it's proven durable and reliable.
I've also gotten a fair amount of use and abuse from my Smok xcube 2.
Maybe, when the board in my 213 DOES finally die (they ALL do eventually) I'll put a DNA board in the case.

I heard the provari boards were good for about 10 years of use or so..

That's what I'm counting on anyway..

I have 6 provari total for my husband and I, a couple regulated mods (going to get another one or two of those) and planning on a couple mechs to last out our lifetimes... but then we have 30 or so years to worry about unless we get hit by lightening or something.. lol..
