Hi everyone,
The other day i was changing light bulbs and had an Aha moment.
image.php

The bottom part of the bulb is ceramic and already looks like atomier
It already has 2 holes in it that might fit the dremel disk holders for mounting the coil.
The diameter is about 20mm but the central part is about 15mm which is allright. But the ceramic is extremely hard to cut. I got the dremel and diamond cutting wheel stopped cutting quite fast.
For the base i'm planning to use broken clearomizer and cut the hole in the ceramic in the center for air intake, and then mold the bottom cylinder part out of some sort of epoxy putty with the ceramic plate on top.

So the question: what to use to cut the damn thing?

i don't know if it's like alumina, but i used to work at a place where i'd occasionally have to but alumina tubes that were about a quarter inch in diameter. it was a large water cooled diamond saw, and it went pretty slow. so if you could try it again but try keeping some oil on it...? I don't know

i like the idea of something off-the-shelf that has leads built-in, but i wouldn't want to have to cut or drill through ceramics.

can you post some pictures of what you're looking at, i'm interested.

thanks,
