Likes..... like a lag

Any way to shut off the Facebook and Google likes in the top right corner of the page? While browsing ECF I've noticed a lag when a page loads. Seems connected to the page retrieving the latest "Like" info from Facebook and Google while it is loading.

I am experiencing the same prob Majestic. Used to, pages would load in 3 to 5 seconds, now it takes 25 to 35 seconds to load.

Just changing from one post to another often takes 20 or more seconds. Seems like this started with the upgrade.

It's getting very frustrating.

I have noticed too, that it seems to be waiting until the face book and google icons appear, then the page loads.

You're not alone... There are two other threads about this.

The new f like and +1 Google buttons take forever....

I could really care less about Google and FB. I would really rather spend my time reading threads than watching them load. Over the weekend it got to the point that I just hit the "mark forums read" button and moved on.

Use Firefox with Scripts, Ghostery, and Adblock and just stop all those calls. Only turn them on when you actually need them.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm comfortable with I.E.. I don't really see the need to install a new browser and add-ons just to get around a lag caused by some vanity buttons.

I'm not that familiar with IE, but there is supposed to be a private-browsing setting that helps.

in ie8 you'll find it under safety - in-private settings - turn on 'automatically block' and refresh - major improvement!

Yes, I found another thread discussing the use of the In-Private Filter. Its use does seem to offer some relief. Thanks for passing along the info though.
