I clicked on what looked like an embedded video and was taken to the Emerald Lux Free Trial page. There was a Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of the page. Any surprises here?

EmeraldLux is an Electronic Cigarette Industry Giant? News to me.

I don't know. The 'article' seems pretty strongly biased to a eCig company I've never heard of, even providing a link to their web site.

In fact, the article looks like a front for the company ... most likely funded by EmeraldLux:
Electronic cigarette industry giant, EmeraldLux, hopes that this latest Lohan media blitz will increase awareness and sales of smokeless cigarettes. To aid anyone trying to quit smoking, EmeraldLux is currently offering a free trial of their top selling electric cigarette in exchange for a small shipping and handling fee.
A FREE TRIAL offer at that, from a really cheesy web site.

I believe that this can be summed up in a single picture.

Hey, UntamedRose. Is that one of those new airport scanner pictures?

Oh, those lucky TSA employees. Anyway, about their trial offer. I was wondering if you could place an order and, assuming you can actually get through on the cancellation number, cancel before you received the order. At least they tell you up front that the 15 days is from the time you order it.

The manufacturer's warning tries to cover everything.

Copyright 2010 Emerald Lux
WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Nicotine products like other smoking products with nicotine are addictive, can cause heart disease, increase heart rate and blood pressure or nicotine allergy. Do not use this product if you are under the legal smoking age or if you are pregnant or breast feeding. This product is intended for smokers and is not intended as a smoking cessation device. This product is not intended to be a drug product that diagnoses, treats, cures, prevents or mitigates any disease or condition, or has any affect on the structure or any function of the body. Do not use this product if you have demonstrated sensitivity to nicotine or any combination of inhalants. This product does not contain diethylene glycol. This product contains a proprietary blend of Propylene glycol, water and other safe and suitable inhalant and flavoring agents. This product contains nicotine, a highly addictive substance. It has not been approved by the FDA as a smoking cessation device. Emerald Lux is not affiliated in any way with ABC, CNBC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, The Doctors, or U.S. News. Do not use this product if you are not of legal smoking age. Consult your physician if you have any medical questions.

CHOKING HAZARD. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN

Please note that the first sentence "This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm." should be on ALL e-cigarette products sold in California (where a ballot initiative enacted about 20 years ago requires this warning on thousands of different products sold in California). That's was what CA AG Jerry Brown went after NJOY and SE in his lawsuit against them, with both settlements requiring the companies to incude the warning in products they sell in CA.

While the second sentence contains some accurate information (about nicotine being addictive and causing temporary increases in heart rate and blood pressure), nicotine doesn't cause heart disease and I never heard of nicotine allergy.

The warning contains two sentences stating that people under the legal smoking age shouldn't use the product, although I didn't see any label saying "underage sale prohibitited" or anything similar, which is a label Philip Morris has voluntarily put on all of its tobacco products.

The fourth sentence "This product is intended for smokers and is not intended as a smoking cessation device." would be even better if it said "This product is intended for smokers as a cigarette substitute."

I especially like the fifth sentence, and suggest that ALL e-cigarette companies consider including it on their products:
"This product is not intended to be a drug product that diagnoses, treats, cures, prevents or mitigates any disease or condition, or has any affect on the structure or any function of the body."

The final warning at the end "Choking Hazard: Keep out of the reach of children" is also beneficial.

Ironically, some of the other sentences in their warning are nearly identical to those on NRT drugs, which would only be needed (or something similar) if e-cigarettes were approved as drug devices.

That EmeraldLux appears to be a typical "free trial" scam operation - there are dozens more out there just like it, that have nothing to do with legitimate e-cig suppliers or manafacturers, and do not remotely act like them either. These scam companies will offer people just about any cheapo product as a "free trial" - magazine subscriptions, candles, acne cream, anything (in this case, a cheap knockoff PV kit) - with the intent of unjustifiably sticking the suckers who fell for it with a hefty bill (about $100) for what was supposed to be a "free trial product." And as an added bonus, they'll tack on a secondary bill of about $70 every month for "cartridges." All of this plus only a short 15-day period to cancel in (minus the days that the crappy "free trial" is in transit)...it doesn't get fishier than this.

"Industry leader" - ??? - more like "No one who vapes has ever even heard of us...& as soon as we scam some suckers out of as much dough as we can, we'll change our name to DiamondGlam or some such & try to pull the same trick again." No one here who actually vapes is their customer or will ever be.

Lastly...there's so much I could say about Lohan that I won't. Suffice to say...no one has seen her vape, no one's heard her express a desire to vape...or even mention vaping at all. She's completely estranged from her father, so is highly unlikely to accept his 'gift'...is a repeat drunk driver, drug user, repeat offender in general, and on a fast track to a young death. On that count I feel sorry for her...but given all we know, I think pigs would fly sooner than she would take up vaping. And frankly...an endorsement from her would not be helpful to anyone in the vaping community. She's completely out to lunch. She couldn't even keep the acting job recently offered to her out of pity...the producer said it was impossible to get her insured. She's not someone who gives a fig about her health...and her problems go waaaay beyond cigarettes.

@Nixsdaddy

I lol'd +1 internets sir.

Thank you kind sir. It seems that sometimes the easiest way to convey a thought process is by a well placed and deserved picture. Especially since pictures are worth a thousand words and the fact that I might be too tired to type! lmao

Cheers!

I'll second that. Nothing beats a Tactical Face Palm... especially a three-fer.
