Lion charging IC

I ran across these two chips designed for charging lion 1 cell
Battery Charge IC | TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR LTD.

Has anyone used these ? Or can anyone tell me if they would be useful?

I'm sure that part would do the job, but I don't think it's the best pick. The SparkFun charger board and some others use the Microchip MCP73831. It's also available in a SOT25 package and it's a lot cheaper than the part you linked to. I use the MCP73833 in my own mods. It's a full featured controller. You might also want to check out the MCP73832. All the Microchip Li-Ion charger controllers are available with various thresholds so check the data sheet for the variant you want.
