Home depot sells a surprising amount of stuff single, yea.

As to the bed thing... At least you'd wake up, but yeah, waking up to Explosive projectiles not so fun.

I put mine on a chunk of granite we had laying around and away from anything valuable and try to monitor like 99% of the time.

I use a metal file card box that is vented.
I believe @Baditude gave me the idea.
Only charge at .5amp and it never heats up inside.
With @hittman 's recent charging issue, I feel safer charging this way.

I know that I am ultra paranoid but I keep my batteries and charger away from anything metal. I have the kind of luck that my batteries will magically pop out and land on the metal.

    That is a valid concern.
The box I use is painted, so there is no exposed metal to cause a short.
As long as your battery wrap and top ring are intact, you would need some thing with bare metal to touch the positive and negative end at the same time.

My opinion: LiPo bags may cause more harm than good.

My father was a carpenter, and some of the best advice he ever gave me was to "use the right tool for the job at hand".

Lipo bags are for Lipo batteries. Period.

Lipo batteries are extremely flamable when they fail. Lipo bags are used for charging Lipo batteries to help contain a potential fire. Lipo batteries are placed inside the bag, but the charger itself is left OUTSIDE of the bag so that air can circulate and cool the charger.

"IMR" batteries are a "safer" chemistry than Lipo's, and less likely to flame when they fail.

Battery chargers can create a fair amount of heat while charging batteries. We may not notice this because there is generally enough free air circulating when we use our chargers to dispense the heat generated. However, placing a charger inside an unventilated bag could result in an unsafe accumulation of heat, thus resulting in exactly the opposite effect of the bags intended purpose.

Simply place your charger on a flame resistant surface: granite countertop, stove top, concrete surface, metal surface, etc. Don't charge batteries while unattended.

Whoa! That’s the charger I use!

Got a link to the details of the incident?
