So, is this your company trying to corner the market on vv?

Patent Application for VV e-cig.

Corner the market on VV?

LOL... Mike CREATED the market on VV! He should be allowed to protect his intellectual property, and license it to whomever he chooses... it should not be a "free for all" where anybody that knows how to build a variable DC supply can also be in the variable ecig business...

Not so long ago we were all vaping with fixed voltages... Mike had an innovative thought... why not VARY the voltage on these devices? What Mike clearly innovated here has changed the face of vaping, and in doing so, other people have copied his concept... not cool.

Let's be clear... Mike didn't invent the variable DC supply, Nor does he claim to have. He also didn't invent the "application of existing electrical components"... what he DID do is to invent the variable voltage PV... they were all fixed voltage prior to his innovation, and THAT is what should be patented. (and reading the abstract, it is what he's patenting)

Why do I always see people getting a negative "tone" when an inventor dares to protect his invention?

Terms like "corner the market" are unpleasant and accusitory...

Do you? I don't see any evidence to suggest he was the first to make one. He may have been the first to market though, I won't argue that.

I do not know the orgination date of his research... I do know that he was the first to market, and built the market from the ground up.

That being said, do you agree that IF he was the first to prove the concept he should be entitled to patent protection?

Perhaps, if that's the way the law works, but I'm not sure I would agree with it. The concept of variable voltage has been around for some time and there are already several patents on that technology alone. Applying it to PV's was only natural. I don't like the idea that just because this guy was the first to apply for a patent means that he should be paid royalties from everyone else that sells one. It doesn't sit well with me.

The Internet
Southpaw just had a contest to name a VV device they are developing.

And, as a side-note, even if you disagree with who was first, it would be helpful to list those who produce VV mods because it would give them an opportunity to show that they were first to develop the technology.

I am one of the first people to argue a patenting move on something if it doesn't have foundation, but I don't see any issues here. Variable voltage was, and pretty much still is, new technology to this world, and the rights should go to the person who first developed it. There are some patent attempts that I would, and have, argued against, but I'm good with this one.

I could use some help here . I need to compile a list of companies that make VV devices so far I have

Pro Vape
Eclypse
Reos box mods
Monkeybox
Sabor touch
Vaprlife

Oh, and Robert has NOT built a VV reo. He was merely discussing the idea, so you may want to remove his name from your little "list"...:)

Well now, I guess that the company that "invented" variable wattage will follow suite. I love when it's all about the "buck"...

If they are smart they will...... Is everyone naive enough to believe that once the PV becomes more common place that large corporations are not going to move in and grab every patent out there?? I said it in another thread, if people want to stake a claim in this market they have to do it now. Big Tobacco and large retailers are coming. They are going to force small manufacturers out. Its simple business strategy. Patents help keep that from happening.

Nobody likes change.....I can promise people it is coming like it or not. Its up to the individual manufacturers we know and love to protect themselves now. Its not always about the buck but being able to stay in business. If mike is granted patent I seriously doubt he intends to put people out of business.

EDIT:
Good info Angus :)
