The SubTank Mini & Nano tighten up pretty well. It was easy to set the AFC to half the single hole which was about the same as a KFL+. The temperature of the vapor is in direct proportion to the watts dissipating in the coils. To warm/hot? Turn the power down. The OCC heads are easier to rebuild than Kanger BCCs & BDCs. You can rebuild them at practically any resistance you desire. Not having personally tried different builds in the SubTank, I can't offer any specific suggestions.
People are different and have different expectations for the vaping experience. One size does not fit all. If you have the ability to test drive a SubTank at a local B&M, it should answer most of your questions.
On a side note, maybe I'll try to pick up a cheap Aerotank. The newest BDCs look to have potential for rebuilding...
I'm with you, Alden.
I've got an
Aspire Atlantis clone on the way from fasttech, along with a pack of ten .5-ohm clone coil heads wicked with OCC (rather than the mystery ceramic Aspire still uses). I don't know how good those clone coils will be, but I plan on rebuilding them anyway with higher resistance coils and rayon wicks.
I've also ordered a
Subtank Mini clone from FT, but with no extra heads. The two heads and RTA deck that come with the Mini should be sufficient to hold me for awhile, since I'll rebuild the heads once I get a feel for where my sweet spot is.
I don't
need either tank, since I don't direct lung inhale or chase clouds, and I'm happy as a clam with my many Erlkonigin Mini clones. I ordered the Atlantis and Subtank Mini only because, having popped for various higher-wattage boxes---iStick 30s, Cloupor Mini 30s, and an iPV Mini 2 70W---I want to see what all the fuss is about during this extraordinary phase of product explosion in the vaping industry, which actually seems aimed at a relatively small segment of the vaping community.
I'm not retiring any of my lower-wattage gear, however. A modest 1300-mAh Vision Spinner clone armed with an EVOD-style clearo with a rebuilt head---an NR-R-NR coil and cotton or rayon wick---gives a surprisingly flavorful and satisfying vape, easily 80-90% of what all my new toys provide. Shoot, I still test juices by dripping into old-school 510 atties. LOL. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
