I just picked up a used one with a dead battery off the classifieds for $50, then got an e-mail from VS about a sale on drippers and decided to look at their box mods and found the price drop :/
I would jump on $50 but the site lists 69.99. Coupon code I'm missing (I also got their dripper-sale email)?
Yesterday, I ordered a second ipv Mini 2 70W for $63 shipped from 123vapes. I really love my first Mini 2, which I've been using for a couple weeks. Despite being a bit larger (and, I presume, heavier) than the Sigelei v2 50W, the rounded-on-one-side design of the Mini 2's case pleases me ergonomically---it fits in my hand perfectly. Actually, I've come to prefer the Mini 2's size over my considerably smaller 30W boxes (Cloupor Mini and iStick 30). The iPV Mini 2 has become far and away my favorite higher-wattage mod. When I found the $63 shipped price, I couldn't resist getting another.
The IPV Mini (original, 30W) has PWM and DC-DC settings. PBusardo found when in PWM mode: 1. an initial "power boost" (about 1 Volt for 1 second) before settling down to the set voltage and 2. step-down.
Does the IPV Mini V2 (which is DC-DC only) give you this "power boost" and step-down?

I don't have an oscilloscope to measure the output signal, but just from comparing the vape quality to other boxes (Cloupor Mini, iStick 30 and 50) set to the same wattage (18-25) using exactly the same Omega dripping RDA built with a 0.7 ohm single horizontal rayon-wicked 26 ga. microcoil and loaded with the same 6mg juice, I'd hazard a guess that the iPV Mini 2 70W operates as the iPV Mini 30W does---with the same 1-second boost followed by a gradual downward slope to the set RMS watts.
As I wrote earlier, I don't experience the Mini 2 70W as hitting "harder" than my other boxes, but rather "fuller." This is a subtle difference rather than night-and-day, and much more noticeable with the Cloupor Mini 30W and iStick 30W than with the iStick 50W. The Cloupor Mini has that 0.8 second delay in firing from a sleep state, but then both the Cloupor and the iStick 30W seem to "ramp up" gradually to full power over the first second of actual firing.
By contrast, the iStick 50W feels (to me) identical to the iPV Mini 2 in the immediacy of full power upon firing, but I get just a bit more vapor with the Mini 2 70W from a mouth-to-lung draw that's as close to the same as I can make it for each. The slight crackle of the Omega's coil sounds exactly the same on both. If I were blindfolded with someone else holding each mod while I took a draw from one and then the other, I'm not sure I could tell them apart in terms of vape quality.
I'm not suggesting that the Cloupor Mini 30W or iStick 30W aren't good mods. They're fine and work well. Nonetheless, I've ended up putting my favorite RDAs (Omega and Origen V2) on the iPV Mini 2 70W and iStick 50W respectively, and I find myself reaching for those more often than the others.
Weird. It was $49.99 when I posted. I don't feel so bad about the one I just bought now.
Price drops on the rDNA40 small screen ($149.99)
Oh boy...even at $69.99 I am seriously tempted by this thing. I'd probably then swap out the DNA30 in my original (non-rubberized version) with a new DNA25. Argh...just when I thought I was done buying until the SXMini M-series is released.![]()
I bought one about 2 months ago for $99 and it's pretty awesome. I saw one for $50 in the classifieds with a bad battery so I jumped on it because I have a few extra li-po batteries and they're pretty easy to replace (for me).
I'm sure. It's too bad because I like the look of it. But I would never buy something with a limited set of setting options. Not when there are so many other choices that provide that. If they switch it up someday, I might jump at it.
Don't worry, the KBox 80W is probably just around the corner and it will most likely be a "true" variable wattage device. I agree, this is a poor design for most people. And really, I see no benefit even to newbies with wattage increments that far apart. Let's face it, a fresh-of-the-analog user isn't going to want a box mod and by the time they are ready for a box, they'll require smaller incremental adjustments.
I'm very happy with my IPV Mini 30W. It has it's quirks, but it's my fav mini mod, even though it's not so mini.
So I ended up (today) ordering an IPV Mini (original).
(I was "nudged" by finding it in Clearance at 101Vape. They only have the GOLD...but that's the one I wanted. And $39.99 [+ $2.99 shipping] is less than ½ carton of analogs.)

Not 20 seconds before reading this post of yours, I was in another thread vowing publicly that within 3 weeks I would also own the IPV Mini, if I could find one in GOLD perhaps...
Not 20 seconds AFTER seeing your post...... welp, guess what ya did to me, Gerry??
Thank you SO much for the assistance, DPLongo.![]()
