ONE other note about the KBOXs. For some reason, on both units, I get an occasional misfire. I push the button, and nothing happens.

I have 5 now   but only three in use - 2 kbox mini and one kbox nano. So far I haven't had any of the misfires on any of the 3 in use. Some toppers - mainly for me anyway, the eGo One tank doesn't 'reach' the fixed center pin. Using a madvapes circuit board spacer solved that problem. So if there is a topper without a solid connection, one may get misfires or nothing :- )

Supposedly the 'platinum' and 'v2's' (not yet released last I looked) were to have a spring loaded pin, but Kanger has said that any of the black/white types that have spring loaded pins are clones.

I have 2 Kbox minis that I also get misfires from. I never thought about it being the fixed center pin, but it very well could be. Funny, though, that I've never had a misfire from the original Kbox.

I know it happens with some mods - in fact, it was your post on 'phantom fires' on the Heatvape 50W that stopped an impulse buy....lol... .but later, I went ahead and got one - it phantom fired  - replaced it with one that didn't!! thanks to VaporBeast's followup and free shipping of the replacement.

But, so far with the kbox mini's I haven't had that problem. For me, for reasons stated on several other posts - mainly 'feel in hand', they are the perfect mod. I DID and have still had problems with the Subtank but again, I'm using the GS air M and tanks with the kbox mini's without a problem.

With the Kbox mini, it could very well be me, Kent. I really hate the tiny fire button. I don't feel like I get a really good "feel" with it. So it could be that I'm simply not pressing it squarely. I put both of mine in my vapocalypse box. I like the small form factor, but there are several things about them that really annoy me, such as the fire button. I also kind of wonder if it's tuned to mean and not rms, as it seems to fire a little bit hotter than my other mods. And the upside down battery bugs me, too, since I don't have any other single battery mods where the plus side goes down. So I frequently put the battery in wrong and have to switch it around.

I much prefer my Heatvape 50w, even though I get that occasional phantom fire and I don't like the battery door. Even with those problems, the vape is stellar and it feels great in the hand.

My thought on the upside down battery: the vent hole on our batteries are on the positive end. I would rather that end be pointing away from me if something happens. And let the magnetic door fly away in the process.

Yeah, it makes good sense. It's just hard to get used to. :D

You may have posted it on the kbox mini as well, but the one I remember was the Defender 50W because it was 'next on my list' and then someone else (I think on the defender thread, also mentioned it and that killed the 'impulse'....lol...

Different perspectives :) I've had no concerns about mean/rms with the kbox mini- pretty sure it's rms but would have to rewatch Phil's vid, but have had those concerns with the defender 50W. (and the heatvape invader mini as well - but not the regular Defender 25/36W (which has my best button).

C'mon, man, call it by its correct term.

lol... Rounded ends and correct width for my hand. Also the step down (vs. the first istick) must help on the DC vs. rms. Frankly, I vape it at 12W for one flavor which is the same as I vape the vtc mini for that flavor, so I don't really sense the difference.

Nope, that's not it. C'mon, Kent, say it. Say it. :sneaky:

Kent, Kent, Kent... After all that effort that Alden, Aik, DPL, others, and I put into this about 10 pages ago, you gotta go and make a statement like this???!!! o_O

I'm holding off on final judgment because I really do like the form a lot. And, since nobody else seems to be having the misfire problem, it's possible that it's me. I'm holding it "differently", for my own comfort. I'm laying my thumb across the button, which MIGHT be the issue. Maybe I'm not getting it right when I push it.

I'm keeping an eye on it to see if it's the mod, or if it's me (wouldn't be the first time I was at fault for something).

As for the finish, it's entirely possible that I got spoiled by the surprisingly good finish of the Hero. The KBOX is still a stainless mod, at a very good price, so...

The story remains incomplete (for me). I repeat though that I do like the mod. I'm using them both more than I thought I would. At least for now (a vaper's prerogative) ;)

Its not just you, I get occasional misfires from mine also. More than I can remember from any other mod that I can think of. Its not a deal breaker, as I only paid $21 from vapor beast. I also dont care for the fixed center pin. I do like the size and form, but it has moved to backup status for me.
They now have the kbox mini "platinum" version which has a spring loaded center pin but for $49.99 there are better options.

Really missing something here on both... I guess I prefer a description rather than a label lol...and there was a difference in the step down of the first istick vs. the newer versions - the first ones burnt at lowest level of power. Not so with the kbox mini. And since I nailed down 2 more kbox minis I'm not tracking this thread as much.... no offense, just that's the reality of the situation. I still enjoy it when I come here though.

Yup, according to Phil Busardo:

A different opinion from the thread VT posted...

I love my subox... although it seems a tiny but OFF wattage-wise, compared to the evic mini. I think it may be set to be underpowered by .3-.4 watts? When I switch my subox to .3-.4 watts higher than what I have my evic mini set-to, with the SAME tank, (switching between the two devices) the subox mini seems to perform JUST LIKE the evic mini. So, I think it might be underpowered by a couple two-three points? IDK.

Happy itty bitty Xmas all.

And greetings from the swimming pool known as Southern Kali. :glug:

I'm convinced that all those higher wattage mods underperform somewhat on lower (below the battery voltage) settings. So I try not to use them when I need really low wattages, which is rare nowadays, anyway. I use dual-coil atties or my RBAs that can handle more watts and all's well. When I need low wattage for a single coil atty, I rely on my ProVari and my Innokins, which seem to be much better at bucking.

My Kbox mini is fine, no phantom fires yet, but it's not a deal breaker for me anyway. I get a random misfire from my Defender 36 and even my iStick 30 occasionally--I just press the button again. :D

Just my :2c:
