Yeah, can't decide between those two. I'll probably get one of each. :D

Top of my list.
Just FYI from the Avail website:
AVAIL is currently unable to ship to the following states:

  • California
  • Massachusetts
  • Hawaii
  • Texas
  • New York

Looks like we're both SOL on the $39 Vaporflask Lite. (Yeah, I was STILL considering it notwithstanding the tiny screen)

Maybe sales/excise tax-related problems? Just guessing...

I don't see why in CA--the new state tobacco laws go into effect on June 9th, and nobody really knows what will happen, other than the new age limit for tobacco purchases (they raised it to 21). No new taxes have been approved yet--actually, Brown vetoed the tax-increase bill, at least for now.

I think Avail is overreacting.

Not "new" taxes. Your regular State sales tax. Don't you guys pay something like 8% in sales tax every time you buy things (like groceries or whatever)? I think there's a big battle over the collection of such taxes on online sales. I think some companies (Apple for example) collect Hawaii "excise" taxes on sales of items from their online stores.

Isn't CA fighting with Amazon over that? I vaguely recall something about a lawsuit on the matter...

Eciggity collects Hawaii excise taxes when I buy from them, but not from online sales to customers in other jurisdictions (I think).

I think it's been settled a long time ago--I pay CA taxes when I shop on Amazon. I also pay my state sales taxes when I buy vaping products from CA businesses--but not from out of state vendors.

So if Amazon has to collect the tax and remit same to CA, don't other online vendors have to do the same? Which means record keeping, probably a separate deposit account for each affected State, regular submission documents, tax reports to the Feds, CA and VA, etc... All I'm suggesting is that perhaps Avail just decided that they just didn't want to bother with all that and elected to not sell to people in those states. No sales = no collection problems. <shrug>.

JUST GUESSING!

(As of my last order, Amazon still doesn't collect Hawaii's excise tax on sales.) :thumb:
