Had the same issue on Long Island, went to a smoke shop that had a e-cig section, knock off batteries, and over priced juice ($10 for what is usually only $6 for the smallest size bottle)

Then I discovered a store that is e-cig only
Fluid Vapor - Quitting is a battle.....Choose your weapon wisely!

I was like a kid in a candy store, reasonable prices, options on what I can get and strength, real legit. They even had a lounge / couches / projector with video game system hooked up. and someone that wraps coils for you on the weekend.

If I never found that place I would have been a slave to over priced goods, horrible tanks or even worst.... Back to analogs

There is place in Houston called create. They do sell the provari for 220. Not sure what all it comes with. They have over 200 of their own flavors and sell others like all. It a rather large store. Their in house flavors are 7.99 for 10 ml so not bad but they are across town from me so can only go on the weekends.

There is a vape store that opened in Georgetown not too long ago. I went in yesterday to see what they had. I really try to spend my money locally. Their prices were so high that I left and drive to allaboutvapor in Round Rock.

All About Vapor has good customer service and decent prices but their juice IMO is nothing special. I stopped in to the refined vapor and the customer service is out of this world! They treat you like you are royalty! They carry expensive juice, mods and rda's. Their prices are a bit high but at least I can stop in on my way home to get some amazing juice.

I had a very different experience the one time I went into The Refined Vapor. The person who helped me had zero knowledge of their juices. I don't even think she vaped. The rest of the employees were hanging around in their lobby goofing off. It was a very uncomfortable situation.

I'm happy that we have a local shop, so in an emergency I could get wicks, tanks, juice, a battery. I'm not PLANNING on doing that, but it's good to know I could. So when I went in, I bought some juice for $10 that I know I could have bought for $6 or less online. I was just tossing a little money into the insurance pot, in case. I'd like them to stay in business. ;)

I'm sorta sorry people pay too much for things by not researching, but not really sorry. I don't feel bad because some people shop at Macy's and pay that ridiculous markup for a pair of jeans. If they don't want to explore their options, then they don't. Choices!

I WOULD feel awful if I knew someone was turned off trying it at all because of high shop prices. But if I knew them, I'd give 'em whatever info & help I could.

Another local b&m wanted $40 for a protankII. ...?!?!
40bucks is high for a PT2 even at a local store, BUT I saw one on fleabay the other day, starting bid $150! Obviously, there was no takers. I can't fault anyone asking that kind of money, just the fool that buys it.

I am THANKFUL however to the guy at my local creatacig store that helped get me off the stinkies. True story here, I recently spent the night in a marriot down in houston. That night I washed out my only PT2 and washed a silicone seal right down the drain!
Fortunately I had a cartomizer backup. The next day I ended up in San Antonio and found the b&m "thanks for vaping" I walked in and asked if they had a seal for me. The girl pulls out a bag of protank parts and gives me the seal I needed. So just to say thanks, I bought another protank2, a mini protank, a spare battery and a bottle of their tigers blood. (And btw their TB is amazing) So here is an example of a store actually trying to care for their customers. Sure it's more than online prices, but my bill was a hundred bucks. Who cares, that was cheap in my opinion or I would have a bag of protank parts instead of 2 working protanks and a mini. I'm happy.;)

I'd probably have done the same. Good on them. :thumb:

Most retailers are making quite a bit of profit. The reason is to cover the major overhead of their shops (rent, stock, fixtures, inventory, employee wages) and during their first 6 months to a year are doing everything they can to return their initial investment. Several local shops have failed here because they never lowered their prices. Other have adapted, offering clinics, seminars, utilizing home shows and other large venues to increase the number of people coming in the door. This allows them to lower their prices. It is hard to beat online retailers due to their lack of overhead. Best advice is check around, find the most popular shop and pay a visit to them. you may learn a great deal and then order what you find you like online.

like any other business ... many people get started only for the money, with little knowledge, they become resellers of clones and try to squeeze every penny they can from customers who are looking for sound information.

Then there are a few select B&Ms who have the passion we see here on ECF ... they are looking to help and educate this growing industry, while struggling to keep their doors open.

The rude money grabbers will be weeded out over time :2cool:
