I have a protank with tank-cracker citrus; at least a month
I just keep adding juice to it

also (same deal bcc)

1 evod with a strawberry
1 evod with menthol

and I don't remember when the coils were last changed or cleaned (long time)
just keep adding juice to them

- - - -

the other evods and mini protank I use caramel, tobaccos, and RY4
and I clean and/or rebuild them about every other day or so...

so it's about what style juice you use (heavy sweet)
and the temp you allow your coil to get -- IMO

:)

Man-oh-man how do you get so long on a PT coil. I'm lucky to get a few days or bout 15 mls before I have to ungunk the coil and replace the cotton. I guess that I'm spoiled but just the coil can last a couple weeks or until I either bend the coil putting in the cotton or jar it and distort the wraps. Some of my ekwool builds would get up to a week before I have to dryburn clean and all you have to do is after cleaning, take a whiff if the coil right after a dryburn and if it smells burnt then its toast, you can't get that burnt out.

You guys do pretty good. I can't seem to get past a week. It starts off with drops on my tongue, then I blow it out and she'll really spray. I tried cleaning them, along with the rest of the tank, but the only thing that really stops it is a new one. But I haven't thought about the issue being the juice. I've been using Alien Visions' Gorilla Juice. Could that be my problem? I know Boba's is a 100% VG, but is GJ too? I just figured I was doing something wrong.

hello clborden, welcome to the big big ECF forum

so how do you blow it out ? (she'll really spray)

best way is: get somewhere to hold your tank up-side-down
(poke hole in a sponge, cardboard box, egg carton)

remove base&coil, set tank aside
hold base in hand with coil still screwed in,
wipe the 'chimney' clean then blow it out thru there... ;)

you can also run a Q-tip (pull some cotton off so to fit) down mouthpiece throat
to get any condensation out that might be in there

screw base&coil back on tank and vape your face off...

I run Hangsen 3&5 which is a super clear, very lightly flavored, 90/10 pg/vg, in an EVOD I go through 3 fills a day, and a coil will last me months before I feel like it really needs to be cleaned.

Even after over a month of use, it will look clean compared to a single day of use with a dark thick sweet juice.

I usually get two to three weeks. Most of the juice I use is 50/50 PG/VG. I have a PT2 with Radiator Pluid.... going strong at three weeks. Another PT2 has Sunshine Vapers Red Hot Ice..... a cinnamon red hot candy and menthol blend that is quite tasty! Eats plastic tanks for lunch. I usually clean everything about once a week.

I have no idea how you guys get so long. I don't have a pro tank but have an evod which uses the same heads. I am very .... though and as soon as I start seeing vapor production drop off then I change the head with either a fresh one or one that I've had soaking in vodka. For most of my devices I rotate between 2 or 3 different coils.

Clear juices make coils last longer (as long as they aren't sugary). Washing and dry burning restores the flavor, but you still reach a point where it's just better to chunk it and screw on another one. Sometimes, you just can't get all the gunked up juice out of the wick and coil without going through a boiling process.

For those who haven't done it, here's an overview for quick washing and dry burning. Remove the head and then snap off the air tube that sticks out of the top (you will be able to snap it back on afterwards). Remove the flavor wicks (top white wicks). Run hot water over the head for about a minute to loosen the crud around the coil. Screw it back onto the battery and press the fire button and hold it. Press it again if it times out. You will hear it sizzle as it steams off the water. Once the wicks dry out, you will see a red-orange glow. Let it glow for a few seconds as smoke rises from the coil. Release and pulse again until the coils glow evenly and there's no more smoke. Do this in short pulses until the coil glows evenly. A few seconds at a time is all you need. Don't overdo the red glow or you might pop the coil. Reinstall the flavor wicks and snap on the air tube and screw it back onto the tank.

It's a good idea to keep some 2mm silica wick (or cotton as some use) around to replace the flavor wicks. They tend to come apart after being wetted and pulled out with tweezers. Cut a section long enough to bridge the slot and stick out about a millimeter on each side. Press the new flavor wick in place before snapping the air tube back on.

The above process takes less than 5 minutes once you have done it a couple of times and will restore like new vaping to an old coil. If you pop the coil during dry burning, you can toss it in a zip lock for later rebuilding.

Here's a dry burn demo
