I remember my curiosity of vaping leading me to buy my nephew's lambo mod from him. Having no clue of what to do and how to use it, I walked into a local vape shop and the guy gave me the low down. My head spun but eventually left the store with smoktech RDA (which I still use and now own several,) some extra pre-wound wick and a couple of 10ml bottles of e liquid. I'm a natural tinkerer so the rebuildable was more fun than a challenge.

Now.... I own two provari's, a vamo, a mech, several RDA's, a few RBA's including a couple of Z-Atty Pros and have FUN making coils and wicks and experiment with dual coil set ups and low ohm/mechanical set ups. My smoking has been reduced from 3/4 PAD to 5-10 a week, maybe. The analogs taste disgusting now, but do it when friends are smoking. Soon, I will stop them completely.

I've come a long way. It's funny how my taste and preferences for vape warmth and cloud production have been refined. This is really fun stuff. Saving money now for my first legit hybrid.... those Zens are niiiiiiiiice.

I started with those messy pre-filled carts on an atty. still use my tanks and tankomizers on my little 510 batteries. the PTB mods to cartos.. early clearos.. giantomizers.. lucid tanks.. those push-button tanks that were supposed to mimic dripping.. eGo megas with mod..

my oh my how times have changed! now I am thankfully obsessed with BCCs. can't wait to see what's to come.

Dare I ask what those were used for?

In the ~2009 era the only thing they had was the 3 piece cig look alike which had a little cartridge filled with a foam material to hold the juice. The blue foam, tea bags, straws, etc,etc were all efforts to make them hold more juice or wick better.

Then a guy in the UK called "Trog" came along and changed vaping forever.
I find it ironic that vaping has gone full circle through the VV/VW craze, and all the different cartos/clearos, and different tanks, etc, back to a LR atomizer (now a RBA) on a mechanical PV just like Trogs first mod. You can still buy a "Screwdriver" BTW. :?:

    Personal opinion of course:
I think we have now explored pretty much everything we can do with the batteries that we have available at this time. We will continue to see improvements in the heads that we are using. But, the next big breakthrough will be in the base fluids that we use for e-liquids.

that's like 300 bucks worth back in the day...I still have new low res. atty's not used.

There are tea bags rolled and folded, foam, ect...

Back then it would hold like .5 mil then leak all over....life then sucked. Now it's easy and little to no mess.

I went back to smoking back then due to all the BS . We are living in the golden age folks, it can only get better. :vapor:

I find it fascinating that normal, ordinary people, who have a passion for vaping and skills in other areas of life, have brought their outside-the-box thinking, gadget-tinkering, and MacGuyver-esque abilities to the table.

It's so cool to know that fellow vapers, even ECF members, have created or innovated devices that have literally changed the game when it comes to vaping.

I love the vaping community. It seems to marry the best of many different worlds.

I have only been vaping for a little over a year and this thread makes me happy I wasn't around for the beginning. Thanks to all you pioneers who stuck it out till the good stuff came along:)
The conversion rate was very low way back then, and you had to overcome a lot of frustration if you wanted to make it stick.
After fiddling around with blue foam and pyramid teabags, it wasn't until I just started dripping that I was sure I was going to make it work for me.

Here is a little story about the TROG and THE Screwdriver.

Glad you chimed in DC. Most on this thread are "pups" in comparison to you and me. It was so bad "back in the day" we had to walk two miles in knee deep snow just to get to the mail box to get our eliquid!!!!

I still remember buying the first "mod" every made, Trogs Screwdriver. (my second PV) It's what got me over the hump so I could quit for good.
