Hi Gents and Ladies,

I'm looking for a good rba with wick style, right now I have a KTS (ggts clone), I have tried some of the dripping tanks, but I don't really like them as they are to inconvenient. I have also tried some SS mesh types, but for some reason mine only tasted like burnt metal (not sure if I did it correctly). So with that said im looking for a rba with a tank and that uses wick. Do you guys have any recommendations? I was looking at the taifun, but it seems like it is not for sale in US.

AGA-T2 is affordable & works great. Got 2 and another on the way.

Same company just released the AGI which is a combo, can be used as a dripper or genesis style RBA.

I see some good words about this RSST but have never used or seen one myself.

If you've already got a genesis style RBA (or whatever you tried the mesh on) you can more than likely get away using fabric type wick (bamboo, hemp, cotton). But I agree with Serket that the metallic taste shows its ugly face when there is something amiss, generally a hot spot and/or lack of wicking.

Welcome to the forum, btw :)

Hi jaypee,

Just had mine for only a week - but i love it, its perfect for me.

Yeah, the one I tried was the AGA-T2, last time I tried it, it was so awful that I couldn't take it anymore, so it have only been sitting there. The problem I had was that it tasted like burnt metal, I read some posts that it could be because the coil was not tight enough. So I will probably try that again, I will probably also try it with silicia wick.

Thanks :)

Either you built it bad or you did not let it break in. When I put in a new wick, I sometimes get a aftertaste that goes away after the first fill. I make sure to clean my mesh first with soapy water, then I torch it before I roll it.

The aga-t is a good rba, and you can use silica if that is what you prefer, so don't give up on it yet

Two AGA-T2s here, and I love them. I found I liked them at 1.5 ohm and higher but REALLY love them at 1.1 ohms. :)

My second go-to is a lightly modded Smok RDA "Octopus" with a fat wick and extra air hole at 0.9 ohms. Of course that's a dripper but it actually holds quite a bit of juice!

Do you have any tips on how to get rid of the metal taste?

Just shell out for the raw materials (Kanthal, SS Mesh, Wick, small tools, etc.). Once you've spent $50 you'll be ready to buy a dripping RBA for <$10. Really, this is way cheaper than smoking... Seriously tho, RBA's are were it's at & get a cheap "known good" dripping atty to practice on... it will help you prepare for the bigger dogs.

As mentioned above the AGA line of Genesis style atty's are very good. For under $40 you can get Stainless Steel, Pyrex, big capacity, adn good looks. My AGA-T2 is my go-to for this style of RBA. The flavor on SS mesh is GREAT when built right, and some flavors really beg to be vaped this way.

That said, my favorites that I actually own are the Terminators. I know they are cheap knock-offs, but my MOD's are flat-finish not polished so they match my setups. Once you get the hang of building them, it's the best - more like a hooka than a cigarette.

I use cheesecloth for the wick on my AGI, works great, no metal taste and wicks well. I've been replacing all the silica wicks in my protanks with cheesecloth for a few weeks now and when I got the AGI it was the first choice for wicking material for me....

I've experimented with a few different wick materials but not cheesecloth yet! Why exactly do you prefer it to silica? Is it the "health risk" some talk about or something else? How do you prep your cheesecloth? I wanna try it! :)
