So I've been vaping strong for nearly 3 months (not one cig yay!) but I'm finding I've lost the throat hit I used to have...

I'm using the eleaf istick 20w (I think that's what it's called in the states) I'm vaping the same as usual (10w/3.6v), but have found I'm getting virtually no throat hit anymore.
Throat hit is the thing I care the most about. It goes away sometimes then I do things that seem to bring it back. A gunked up coil and wick seem to reduce throat hit. Not enough liquid on the coil seems to be a factor. I get good throat hit most reliably with a fresh wick and coil. Often replacing just the wick is enough. I seem to be replacing the wick every few days and building a new coil about once a week. Is that necessary? I'm not sure but it seems to make a difference. These steps are easiest to do with rda's and that is one of the reasons I use them exclusively. Another possibility is the throat becomes less sensitive over time so more vaper is needed. I tend to doubt that though because cigarettes provided a consistant throat hit.

We don't seem to have much understanding of what a throat hit is so it's harder to create the circumstances where it happens more reliably. In the simplest terms it's irritation of the throat. But not all irritations are the same. Could it be that throat hit goes away sometimes just because the throat becomes decensitized for a while? May be throat hit is encouraged by a combination of cooler and warmer vapor. Some say more PG can help or more nic can help. I tried a zero nic version of my DIY and noticed all traces of throat hit were gone. Having a biological understanding would help. How is the throat interacting with the vapor to create the response we are talking about?
