A little over a month ago I started vaping using a Mistic my brother bought for me at Walmart. Last week both of the batteries in the kit stopped working so I ordered an 808 starter kit from Elite Vaporworks. I know this is cheap also, so I'm not expecting it to last very long.
So, what I'm looking for is something high quality with great performance (and hopefully not ridiculously pricey as I only work about 15 hours a week right now). Not necessarily something that looks anything like an analog, but something pretty (I'd also like to try a drip tip!)
Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go to find something like that?

KR808D-1 is the strongest slim ecig at 3.7v. And the lowest/hottest cartos that should be used on a slim ecig (around 2.5 ohms) are easy to find for KR808D-1 (I use V4L WOW cartos and Bloogplanet/SmokelessImage cartos). To go any stronger means going to fat batteries and mods. Any 450mah+ battery can use ohms lower than 2.5 for more heat and obviously will have more charge.

You can use a drip tip now - as a mouthpiece. In KR8 cartos I use the black delrin one at V4L.com (also KR808D-1 threaded). I always use it as a mouthpiece on my cartos - easy to pull off to check if the top of the stuffing could use liquid, or (with carto OFF battery) I pull off the drip tip to add liquid and clean up the carto.

If you want to actually drip liquid to vape it, you can use a KR808D-1 manual battery, a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip (the atomizer and drip tip are available at LiteCigUSA.net)

A Good reliable ecig for a beginner, that will give you good battery life, (all day for MOST)
I would have to steer you towards the EGO or the EGo-T (tank system)
You can use cartomizers or the atomizer (dripping) with it. They run about 45-50 bucks but you get two batteries, one for back up, while the other is charging. Also if you choose to use carto's you can get adapters and use just about anything on the market. You won't be looking for a new PV for at least 3-6months.
I started out with an Ego and after a year. I still use my Ego above all my box mods, tube mods, feeders, and VV Tube mods.
Still my 4 EGo's get used the most!!!

The best PV out there (indestructible! Affordable! Safe!) is the Saber Touch. I suggest the VV option.

As for pretty, you can get LITERALLY any color you want. You pick the color and tell him what shade based on a website he has on there with thousands of colors. You then pick the design. It's awesome, and very very "pretty".

You have definitely opened yourself up to lots of suggestions. :) I would like to chime in with one myself. At Smoke for Pennys they have several options on a small kit that gives you the battery, a cartomizer or two and a drip tip along with a charger for under $28.00. Here is the link: Cupid's Revenge Special XL - Penny 's Store She also has green batteries too.
These are ego type batteries which should last u all day in vaping.

I'm also a newbie....8 days with no cigs right now. Haven't smoked an analog since my kit arrived! I ordered a KGO kit from Dark City Vapor, and am very happy with it. It's basically an ego clone. I went to a local brick and mortar store that is an hour away and checked out the ego....I think mine is cooler, and definitely was more cost effective. I actually bought an ego battery to get a friend started until her KGO kit arrived. That battery does not last as long as my KGO batteries do.

Either kit would be great, but I really like the KGO.

Yep, you're going to get a ton of suggestions. I'm betting most of them are going to be for an eGo, Riva, or Kgo. Those are all good devices and you'll probably be happy with any of them. However, there is a variation in the same family you really should take a look at. Check out the Ego e-power 3.7V at Liberty Flights. It will take everything the eGo and it's clones will take but, it uses a generic 18650 battery.

There are a couple advantages. First the batteries don't last forever. The generic battery is cheaper to replace and you aren't limited to vaping sites for the replacement. The 18650 battery will go a lot longer between charges than any of the above. Lastly, if/when you decide to venture into the higher end mods, you're going to need generic batteries and a charger. You'll already have it. :)
