Hi all. I'm new here and I've been vaping for about 3-4 months now. I bought a kit with smok ego style batteries and ce4 clearomizers. I have recently switched to Kanger EVOD tanks, but now my batteries are not wanting to hold a charge for as long as they use to. So since I'm in the market for new stuff, give me your opinions on what you think I should get.

Looking for something that the battery lasts a good while. Possibly variable voltage as I have kinda been looking into those lately and they seem like a good thing to have. I know I'm probably about to get flooded with replies, but that's ok! I'll take everyone's opinion into account when purchasing.

Hi Damien,
I heard Smoktech was heading downhill lately in quality be it their batteries and cartomisers. My eGo 1100mAh passthrough batts from Joyetech have been faithful to me for +2 years and still going very strong even after accidentally dunking one in the pond while fishing. I let it dry and to my surprise, after 3 days, it still works.
I also just bought the innokin MVP 2 and have been using it for almost a month now and it has been nothing but fantastic. This has passthrough and variable voltage. Bought mine for $50 at my local mum and pop store.

I've just shifted from my Lavatube and Inferno with stock tube tanks.

The Lavatube seems to get some good battery life (2-3 days between charges) and haven't noticed a drop in battery performance in the last 9-10 months. The Kanger Protank 2 works alright with it, but seems like it needed a eGO-510 adapter (or any spacer) to get enough airflow.

The other I might recommend would be a Smok Twister which is also a VV mod with a Smok ARO BCC Clearomizer. I've noticed I get a lot better hits from it than I have with my Protank 2 so far running the same juice. The only downside is that the ARO only has 510 threading.

+1 for the iTaste MVP. Powerful built-in battery lasts up to 3 days on a charge. Can be used while it charges (usb cord), and you can even charge your cell phone or iPod from the MVP. Variable voltage. Sturdy build, like a tank. Comfortable to hold and small enough to be pocket-worthy. Kit comes with two iClear clearomizers. MVP kit at AltSmoke. Can't be beat for this price.

The MVP is far more durable than an eGo battery. I carry mine in my front pants pocket all the time. You won't break this. I've seen people put their MVP in a cell phone belt protector, and the manufacturer (Innokin) makes a belt-attached case for portability.

Personally, if I was looking for a basic setup, I'd head to Fasttech and order a Vamo v2, 4 batteries with a couple of different atomizers like the ProTank and Vivi Nova's. If you want even more basic, I'd order a couple of X6's batteries with a couple of different atomizers like the ProTank and Vivi Nova's. Solid basic set ups you can grow.

The Vamos are a good choice too, relatively low cost. Ordering from Fasttech means you'll have to wait awhile, but it's a good option if you're willing to wait. Fasttech won't attempt to deceive you, if it's a knockoff of a product, they tell you it's a knock off. Shipping from fasttech is going to be delayed though, there's a holiday going on in China.

You may want to get a battery or two that fit the tanks you are using and the charger you have........... then worry about getting a whole new system - as the new system plus chargers, tanks and backups will not be cheap - and you don't have to spend a bunch right now - just enough to keep you off the stinkies!

The eGo T battery comes in a variable voltage and is pretty durable....... but don't buy a whole eGo T set up - just the battery - as the atomizers on the complete set up can be finicky at best.

Four months and about 2 dozen mods in but after a pair of eGo V2's and Vivi's I was left with a bad taste. Resolved when I found the Protank and two Sigelei zMax Rev 3's. I vape them hard with Panasonic CGR18650CH flat-tops (these are available from OKC for $8). The Sigelei's you should find for about $50 in a number of places. I have both the sloped head and flat top. They perform interchangeably except for airflow. If you like the Protank make sure to get the slopehead. If you prefer a more constrained air supply, the flat top. I also acquired three eVic's and they are the best short of a Provari if often, depending on your coil setup and power, quite airy with the Protank.

Get the Sigelei's, you'll get that warm mellow wet kiss you're looking for. And plenty of staying power with the Panasonic's. Trust me. :)

Well as it stands, I don't mind buying a whole new setup as I only have 1 tank that I actually like to use..I have 3 or 4 ce4's lying around but they aren't going to get used anymore..MacTech..do you think you could link me to a place to look at what you are talking about? I found a few things, but I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing here.

I really, really like the nZonic (EHPRO clone) which the following emulates but too hot with fresh 18650's or the 18500's, VG and a good 1.8Ω coil. But it occurred to me as I was closing that you might like the Smok Magneto. It looks really sharp with an elegant minimalist form factor, marries up nicely to the Protank and I find it's quite efficient electrically running 18490's with a fairly consistent vape down to 36v on stock 1.8Ω heads. If you're not interested in a VV/VW device to read resistance, use primarily stock coils, this might be just the ticket. It's my main walkin' around batt with the security of a great very fluid locking ring for the mag firing button. Great little item for a price near $40.

But really get the Sigelei, lol, and one of the above for a backup. You'll do good for under a C.

:)

I've been looking to upgrade, and my eyes are drawn toward the Smoktech SiD and cheap mechanical mods. I need something durable, that can take batteries that would be useful if I need to try something else. I'm also interested in rebuilding atomizers. If you don't care about that, I'd say look at the SiD or Vamo. I currently have a protank mini II. It is pretty nice, and I hear the full size is decent too. It has replaceable coil heads, that can be rebuilt, if you decide to try your hand at that at some point.

Edit: The SiD is a xxxMax style VV/VW mod, at a lower pricepoint, with all the function, and good durability.

You'll find the two Sigelei v3 types represented at...

APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizers) - VividSmoke.com

I'm sure with a little patience you will get the price range I mention or a tad over, perhaps with coupon.

Still like the Magneto as the sidekick for any Protank lover. Also, the Magneto has an optional head that accommodates Kanger T3s etc. natively. I use them as back-up tanks. More airy but really great warm vapor and economical on juice! Lot of output for the power so that translates to batt efficiency. When I'm up long nights and need that consistent vape, I set one of these up.

I bought a pair of Magneto's and the eGo cap from...

Smoktech Magneto Top Cap V2

Lookout for a restock sale or coupon.

And good luck. You will be very pleased leaving the level 2 eGo world for the reliability and outstanding flavor.

:)
