The added button top increases the overall length, the added length causes the end cap spring to exert more pressure against the chip via the added button top.
Over time this causes the chip to displace / be pushed out of its mounting.
The chip will gradually move towards top cap taking the display screen with it.
Sooner or later it will become displaced enough to cause misfires up to stop working altogether.

Sure there are folks that use the 'added on' type button tops in Provari's that have no problems.
I've seen dozens that do, some the first time they're used to within a few days.

Hi all, I've been trying to decide on a new set of batteries and narrowed my search down to two batteries vtc5a and vtc6. Im on a series regulated mod and vape between 100-120w. My question is will I see a great difference in performance between the two batteries at this wattage, specifically run time (vaping hours) thanks for any help on the subject

This thread is about button top batteries for a Provari power device.

To answer your question, the vtc6 is 3000mah, the vtc5a is 2500mah, you might notice a slight gain in runtime with 3000mah cells.
Of course that is dependent on your power devices low voltage cutoff.
Higher low voltage cutoff (3.2v+) 3000mah, lower low voltage cutoff ( - 3.2v) vtc5a.

If for some reason I wanted to vape a 2 cell power device at 120w I'd use 25a CDR cells - vtc5a or LGHD series, at 100w or less - Samsung 30q, vtc6, LGHG2.

That makes sense.

I was looking around for button tops for Provaris recently. I've always used AW's and they are great. But I was getting a little nervous being dependent on a single battery option. Do you know if anyone else makes button top 18650's that don't have the added on button with increased length?

Any idea why the AW's are priced so high relative to similar flat tops?

I think I spotted one on Illum Supply a while ago but they were OOS, and they aren't there any more.

Illum do have Efests, but Efests seem to have a bad reputation.

I only buy cells from RTD ---> AW Batteries

I can make an educated guess why they're more expensive, AW only use/buy 1st bin 'A quality' cells that then go through strict quality controls before being wrapped with AW wrap.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 30Q's with added button top unless you feel a noticeable increase in tension before the battery cap bottoms out against the tube.
Some folks have been using the added button type for quite some time without problems, I'm not that lucky.
I have a very negative opinion about all efest batteries, I wouldn't use them if they were free, or even paid to.
