Have you tried a 2.0 dual coil up around 5v on your mod? Or a 2.5 dual coil near 6v? My experience is you cannot go up over 4v with a 1.5
To use dual coil cartos/tanks on a box mod, you need to be using "high drain" batteries or else the protection circuit in the batteries will trip.
I have a 5 volt box mod from Ken's Box Mods which works great with EMDCC's as long as I am using high drain batteries. Ken also makes VV box mod and he stands behind his products and is well supported on ECF:

What?? I use 1.5 ohm cartos on both my 5 volt box mod and my variable wattage Darwin without a problem. On the Darwin, I vape between 4.5v - 5.0v.

If I was going to get a new "box mod", this is the one I would seriously look into. The guy who makes them is an ECF member:

My Ken's Box Big Daddy is running a DC 2.5 carto/tank w/VG as we speak w plenty of throttle left...lots of head room.
I like that Gepetto tho.
I believe I need to try a bottom feeder next tho.

I haven't actually contacted the guy. But another member told me to do the following:
"go here....UK Vapers sign up and the look under mod maker sales, and then look for Gepetto box mod you will find out most things you want there and if not shoot Gepetto a pm."
As I understand it, Gepetto is in Poland. In another thread, it said he was an ECF member but I can't find him under the name given.
Let us know what you find out if you get a hold of him.
I just bought a VV Splash by Shan, and it should be here tomorrow. I liked the formfactor, the voltmeter built in, and the coolfactor. If you can find one through the classifieds, expect it to only set you back about $65 shipped (That's what I paid). I checked their site daily for a couple weeks, and NEVER saw any new for sale.
If you want to consider a tubemod, I personally fell in love with the Notcig products (I own a Buzz Pro, but the INfinity is very nice also, and a little easier on the pocketboot, with all the same circuitry)

I am assuming that it is regulated and has some form of boost circuit to keep the battery output constant throughout the charge life?
It uses a circuit board that is discussed in another thread. The circuit board is sold by someone out of, I think, also Poland, as is the person who builds the Gepetto.
It must be regulated, as it certainly maintains the setting you program into it. I'm also floored by the battery life, about 17 hours when I tried using only the Gepetto VV for an entire day (6:30am- past 11:45pm, no other devices used that entire day)....
I don't have any other devices that use 18350's or 16340's, so I have nothing else to compare it to. It does last longer then my ProVari with 18500's in it, but the ProVari only uses a single cell, so it makes sense.
I picked up the Altoids Mod.
A lot of fun and relatively cheap. Picked mine up on the Classifieds but was thinking of getting a new one anyway.
Apart from Ego fittings it is good with any 510 connection.
