Hey everyone!

I have a 650 ego with carto tank. Its on its way out and im in need of an upgrade. I have been looking about the web and im swaying towards a mechanical mod.
Ideally a mechanical mod and ill add a genesis style atomizer, or a genesis hybrid.

Problem is my other half is a fellow vapour and her ego isnt holding up to well either so whatever I buy its x2. Cant really go more than £200 for the pair for a complete setup

I saw the NGP genesis on e-cig-reviews.com up for £42 what a bargin! I have emailed the guy but no reply yet im not even sure if it is still been made.

It does seem like everybody is out of stock or there is a waiting list unless i buy from china. I dont mind buying china mass produced but I want to be sure its half decent quality. The TW odyssey is up for £89 and is mass produced although its a carto system, does anyone know if they are any good?

Any suggestions are much apreciated!
Rich

If you are going into the geneses world, or any other that is rebuildable I would strongly recommend that you go with a variable voltage mod with short circuit protection. Otherwise, a short circuit will ruin your day. The protection saves your mod, and the variable voltage allows you to get to the sweet spot for your juice, coil combo.

It offers some protection, but any battery has the potential to hard-short and vent hot gasses if pushed beyond its limit, whether it is protected or the safer chemistry IMR batteries. Using a regulated electronic APV offers the most safety, as it will shut down if it determines that an atomizer or battery is dysfunctional.

A mechanical mod only offers a hot spring and vent holes as safety features, which are only somewhat useful once a battery has already hard-shorted.

The more protection that you can add to your mod, the safer it will be. Using a Vape Safe mod fuse is a good idea. Batteries : Vape Safe Mod Fuse 2

I've collected a lot of important information with links to help guide new vapors into the world of APV's and RBA's in this blog article:

Thanks for the info. the fuse looks like its worth the money for what it does. The real reason i want a mechanical mod was so dont have to worry about wires. I need durability - dont want to be dealing with wires and cracked solders and all of that.
And the reason I want an RBA is for a better quality vape, one that is easy to maintain and repair.
These vids are great thanks i havent watched the one by Zen yet but i will.

There is a good amount of maintenance with a mech. I at least once a week clean and polish my contacts on my nzonic to keep the best oerformance I can have. Vv devices are nice and simple and very reliable. Especially if your coming from a basic ego battery and cartos. The rebuildable world is a very tricky one to get the hang of. Its nothing at all like putting in a simple carto and vaping. It requires time and patience and know-how that personally comes from experience.

Do yoirself a favor and get something thats easier like a vamo or provari and work your way up. And if you wait the ihybrid pure will be released for 99 bucks. Thats a deal beyond words.

Just my thoughts. Good luck

If you can swing for the price, you won't have to worry about a Provari having issues with durability. It's built to last years and to take a lot of physical abuse. It's durability and reliability is legendary, and should one require repair, Provape will repair it for as long as you own it, usually within a week's time from sending it in till you get it back.

I would never call an RBA easy to maintain and repair, at least when compared to the plug-and-play ease of most other juice delivery devices. I find them to be rather fussy and undependable. Granted, when they are working optimally, there's nothing better. But unfortunately I've not found that to happen on as consistant a basis as I would like. Regardless, you would always require a backup delivery device such as your cartotanks when the RBA is down.

You mentioned your wife will be getting the same setup as you. Will she be as tech-savy as you to troubleshoot an RBA on the fly? Most RBA's are not exactly travel worthy or pocket worthy, they all leak when laid on their side.

I'm just one vapor out of many. I had full intentions to put an AGA-T2 on my semi-mechanical Silver Bullet. However, I found after using it that I greatly prefer using it on my Provari instead of the SB. In fact, when I got my second Provari, I got a second one for it. Nothing wrong with the SB, I just prefer using the Provari's.
