Looking for Better Faster Throat Hit

Hello All!

My husband and I are new to vaping! We purchased the Joye eGo and recently bought the tanks for the ego so we didn't have to keep refilling. I always get the throat hit, but my husband has trouble feeling the throat hit and says he doesn't like pulling on it so much to get a hit. Vapor production is great, he just isn't feeling it. He's looking at the Silver Bullet. I'm wondering if a bigger battery would make a difference or some other ecig I haven't heard of. OR are mods the way to go. What makes the quicker hit with best TH? Help, I don't want my husband to turn back to analogs, when he's been doing sooooo good! Any suggestions, etc will greatly be appreciated.

He doesn't necessarily need a different battery, such as a mod like the Silver Bullet (although that certainly is an outstanding, classic mod). The simpler, less expensive way to go would be to try LR cartomizers on your current battery. Cartomizers also eliminate the need to "keep refilling."

My favorite is the Smok Tech Mega Dual Coil cartomizer. They hold about the same amount of e-liquid as the type B tanks (and more than the type A). The lowest price I've found is from LiteCigUSA: $9/five-pack – either black or clear. If he has a stainless steel/silver/chrome eGo, he might prefer the "Stainless" color carried by MadVapes: $2.29 ea (lower cost in quantity).

If your husband does want to go the mod route, a 3.7V mod wouldn't gain him that much in TH. [The difference between the 3.2V of the eGo and the 3.7V of a mod is noticeable, but not dramatic.] The Silver Bullet, for example, is intended to be used with a very high mAh 18650 3.7V battery, which will keep you vaping for a long time between charges, but do much for TH. It can be used with two stacked 3.0V RCR123A batteries to get 6V, but that will either burn out your atomizers/cartomizers (and blow you over in TH) or require you to use HV atomizers/cartomizer. BTW, you will not be able to use your eGo-T tank atomizers on a mod. They are designed for the unique fittings of an eGo or an exact compatible (e.g., Riva or KGO).

IMO the best type of mod for use with regular resistance atomizers and cartomizers is VV (variable voltage), most of which (other than boxes made with parts from Radio Shack) are rather expensive. Premier examples include the $160 ProVari (batts and charger not included) and $230 Darwin. The original VV mod – the $120 Buzz (complete kit) still is excellent, but doesn't have the advanced features of the first two mentioned.

Personally, I am really enjoying those Dual Coil cartomizers, not only on my eGo, but also on my very inexpensive 3.7V mod: the 18650 (2000+ mAh) NoEgo. It is only $35, but does not include batteries or charger. I assume that you folks do not already have 18650 batteries and a charger for them. The virtually identical 18650 e-Power ($55 from BreezEsmokes).

NOTE: These are large devices. The 18650 NoEgo is on the left of this photo; your eGo is on the far right:

Shown in the center of that photo is the 14650 (~1000 mAh) NoEgo (virtually identical to the original e-Power), which is not that much bigger than the eGo. They cost about $10 less.

I'd recommend 2.0Ω Bogetech cartomizers. I use eGo-T tanks also, my favorites are eGo-T type B (both standard and LR) and 510-T (also LR and standard), but Boge cartos are reliable, easy to use and disposable--no maintenance, no worries, just refill several times and throw them out.

Give them a try before investing in an expensive mod.

I'd also chime in on the LR ego T type B attys Also, I put 1-2 drops of pure grain alcohol in most of my tanks. Increases th and helps clean and keep the attys running smooth I call it a "2 fer"

I second Katya's rec on the 2.0 ohm Boge cartos. I have not tried the tank systems yet, but honestly, I think they are still working bugs out with them. I read both good and bad reviews of them. As new user who wants simplicity, and lots of hit for the buck, Boge 2.0 ohm on an eGo is really hard to beat, for reliability, ease of filling, and good hard vaping, they are a good deal. I also enjoy 3.2 ohm cartos on an eGo, especially late at night when I don't really want my head knocked off. But if I do, pop on a 2.0, and I'm good for quite a while.

Along Don's suggestion of other PVs, I received TODAY my 14500 NoEgo (900 mAh). I had a bunch of 14500 batteries lying around since the box mods I was using them for finally died. It is shown in the picture of his post in the middle. Its a true 3.7V mod for $25, and I am thoroughly enjoying a Boge 2.0 ohm carto on it right now (the eGo is about 3.2 ohm, so a bit less heat with same atty/carto). It is about 25% wider in diameter than the eGo, and a touch longer than an 1100 mah KGO/eGo/Riva. Amazing and inexpensive PV. But you do need batteries and a Li-ion battery charger, so the initial outlay will be an additional $20 or so, depending on the number of batteries you want.

I also have the KGO I got from Breezesmokes (BreezEsmokes - Premium Electronic Cigarettes), which is on sale for $39 now!! The KGO is essentially the SLB version of the 510 eGo, save for the fact that it puts out 3.8-4.2V to the coil. And they are 1100 mAh batteries. A boge carto and a fresh battery gets me 6-8 hours of heavy vaping. Can I tell the difference between a 3.2V eGo and a KGO? You bet! I recommend the KGO kit for you because you get two batts, two attys, two cones and 5 filled carts. Not a fan of carts, BUT dripping in an original 2.5 ohm 510 atty (you will likely need a drip tip) is a great way to get rockin' hits easily, and also a better way to test juices than with a tank when you don't want to have to vape 1+ mL of juice.

So along with my new NoEgo, I got my first box of dual coil cartos (XL silver, 1.6 ohm, with 2 3.2 ohm coils). So THIS is why Don loves these things so much! These are great! And very interesting, because it seems to give twice the vapor of a regular carto without more heat. See Don was, or maybe still is, a penstyle PV lover, which excel at flavor but generally had less heat then the 510. Over time I too have been wanting to turn up the flavor and vapor, but until trying these dual coil cartos, more vapor meant more heat and less flavor. Not with these! Each coil is still 3.2 ohms, but you are driving two of them, so its like the battery is being drawn by 1.6 ohms. Much more vapor...which means you are going through juice and the battery faster, but not at the expense of flavor. The draw is a bit harder than a single coil Boge, though, but the hit is just remarkable...for a couple bucks...and I'm sure they can be cleaned and reused.

So I recommend getting Boge 2.0 ohm cartos (sometimes just called LR) and some of the dual coils. And get some drip tips, so you can add juice to them easier. Both will give more hit, but in different ways. You will likely want to get some higher mAh eGo or KGO or Riva batts too. Always good to have spares especially when you are pushing the wattage with LR. I would actually also recommend regular Boge 3.2 ohm cartos for those times when you do not want huge hits.

All of the above is very sound advice but I feel the need to add to it.

If your husband has his eye on a Silver Bullet, it can't hurt to get one. I wasn't very satisfied when I started vaping and I tried everything that was recommended but I still felt I needed something more. Enter my 1st mod, the Silver Bullet. I ran that beast at 6v with standard 3ohm Boge carto's. It was better than smoking. About a 2 second draw gave me the throat hit I was craving, as well as massive vapor production. Not to mention the fact that your husband will be more likely to use an e-cig if he likes it. Guys like power and the SB makes most "stock" batteries seem like toys in comparison.

A lot of people dont like to recommend high voltage vaping to new vapors but IMHO, sometimes high voltage is the only thing that helps. I would recommend either the AW or Tenergy LiFePO4 3.2v batteries to run 6v simply because they are a safer battery chemistry for stacking batteries.

That being said, I have since moved on to LR atty's at standard voltage and that usually works fine for me now. But, every now and then when vaping just doesnt seem to be working for me, I set my SB up for 6v and I'm satisfied after just a few drags.

You also can use eGo specific atty's like the tank atty's on the Silver Bullet by using the available 510-eGo adapter.
