I'm on a budget, so I want to use nicotine in the cheapest way possible. I read a little on the forum, and apparently it's possible to buy your own nicotine liquid, which would be much cheaper than buying pre-filled cartridges. Flavor does not matter to me.

However, I still do not know how long they last. I found a site that sells a liter of 100 mg strength nicotine liquid for $50. They recommend to dilute to 24 mg strength or less, but why? You could take 4x less inhalations with this strength than 24 mg and it would be easier, no?

In how many days would an average e-cig user consume a liter of nicotine of that strength? Light user? Heavy user? I want to calculate how many $0.xx per day it would cost. Maybe patches would be cheaper.

It's also difficult to choose between the different starter kits. I don't see many sites for reviews on refillable c-cig starter kits.

So summed up, I'm looking for the cheapest long-term method of nicotine consumption, and I'm having some difficulty determining price per day and which starter kits are best.

If you made a 30ml bottle of juice at 18mg nicotine you would add 5.40mls of your 100% nicotine solution to a 24.6ml base of vg/pg If you bought the $50 bottle of nicotine that would be the 250ml size. You could make 46 30ml bottles of juice. You can by PG at Tractor Supply by the gallon cheap along with syringes for measuring and VG at Walmart, Walgreens etc.

You do not want to vape the 100% nicotine solution without thinning it with VG or PG; way too strong. The average cigarette is 18mg not 100mg.

100mg would not only be HORRIBLY painful at best to vape ,you would probably get VERY sick VERY quickly.

Consumption rates vary so much from individual not to mention different devices consume at different rates.

The range easily runs from about 1ml to 15ml+ a day. There's no wrong or right.

The other thing to consider is the nic solutions are either pure vg OR pure vg. Some folks do vape either or pure, but most prefer a mix of the two

Let's just say, from personal experience, above 32mg is just painful, regardless of whether it's direct application to skin (I spilled some), or whether it's inhaled. Diluting it down to a 24mg or below is preferable if you want to be able to speak afterwards. Also, above 30mg or so, it begins to boil rather than vaporize, and you won't get much of anything besides a bad taste.
I would think that whether you're going for e-cigs or patches, depending on the state you are in, if you're simply looking for the cheapest way to get nicotine, an analogue is still the easiest, least-fuss way. If you're looking to quit smoking, you might want to put a tad more consideration into what you're doing, and how comfortable it is for you, because it'll be with you for the long run.
If you're under 18, please, come back when you're 18. The way your write and the topics you cover seem to hint to me that you're underage.

Go to DIY subforum and read all sticky threads. Making your own e-liquid without proper knowledge could be dangerous. But when you know what you are doing it is very easy. If you prefer unflavored vape, DIY liquid will cost you just a few cents a day. Flavors could add another 5-20 cents per day.

Most middle of the way smokers could start vape with 18 mg/ml nicotine, so you should dilute 100 mg/ml nicotine to the proper level with vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol(PG). Again, in DIY subforum you can find how to do it and links to proper calculators to determine amount of ingridients.
I now vape 10-12 mg/ml nicotine and by my estimate 1L of 100 mg nicotine will serve me for about 6-7 years.

Okay, so the issue would be that 100 mg would be harsh and it would be hard to control dose if there is so little vapor, ending potentially in sickness.

What is a nicotine anologue?

I said I'm on a budget, so I'm in a tough situation, I can't quit nicotine because that will make it even harder to get out of the hole I'm in, and cigs are a bit expensive, not to mention more harmful. It's rude to assume I'm underage, I bet my life is harder than yours right now. And FYI if I were under 18 I wouldn't be able to order nicotine liquid or starter kits over the internet.

My charger for my other e-cig broke, and it's $30 for a new one, so I thought why not just buy a new starter kit that has the cheapest nicotine per $ cartridges. I guess it will be under $0.25 per day to use nicotine liquid, so I will easily afford it.

Ok, so, PG is thinner but harsher for the throat and makes it dry sometimes, VG is sweet and thicker, but produces more smoke.

I need to buy nicotine liquid, but what are the best containers for mixing, do they have to be a specific sort? Also a pipet from walmart or walgreens. I would need to order either PG or VG, probably PG would be better because it makes thinner smoke. The nicotine liquid too, of course.

And do you know any good pages of reviews of refillable e-cigs?

... If you bought the $50 bottle of nicotine that would be the 250ml size. ....

Actually there are several places to buy 1 liter of 100 mg for $50 and one place that has it for $35 a liter

I bought a liter of 100 mg for $50 from RTSVapes and it's as good as any other I have tried.

To the OP.. do yourself a favor and don't try to vape 100 mg liquid. I'd hate to see your story on the news as I'm sure your family and friends would also. Trust me, 24 in a good device will give you a serious Nic Kick.

I apologise for jumping to that conclusion. It's just that I've seen it time and time again, especially at the local vape shop I used to work at. 15-year-olds walking in and telling me they "had a budget" and all that crap. I then proceed to card them and they cite harassment. I meant it as a word of caution, not as an insult.
I said analogue because I felt that saying the word "cigarette" is taboo here. Again, apologies for jumping to conclusions too quickly.

An ego charger shouldn't cost $30. Mine cost $2.99 at a head shop with a room full of ....s and steamrollers. I mean, this is even cheaper. $1.46 Electronic Cigarette USB Charging Cable (19cm) - works with EGO-T series at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping Something isn't adding up here...

Mixing in a glass container is safest, but is very cumbersome. Nicotine liquid can react with some plastics, so watch out for that. Unless your container needs to handle high concentrations of nicotine liquid, your typical plastic squeeze bottle should be fine. something like this
$0.76 E-liquid Refiller Bottle for Electronic Cigarette (10mL) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
with the little needle will make life easier in the long run.

Hope this helps.

Hey there! Welcome to ECF friend!

Firstly, flavor doesn't matter? I know of people who just like to vape unflavored nic juice, but from the sounds of it, you have only been using pre-filled one time only cartos. Which, if it's with one of the cheap bad boys you get at a gas station, means you have given up on flavor WAY too soon. Explore the world of flavors!
Dekang has super super cheap juice. Talking like 3 bucks a pop at the local shop here. I got the apple and it was pretty good. I just want you to make sure you don't care about flavors before you give up on em, you know?

Secondly, Dear sweet baby jesus you'd almost surely die if you inhaled 100% nicotine. Matter of fact, it's used as an insecticide, or once was, I'm not sure if it is now or not. But high levels such as that are crazy dangerous. And trust me, it isn't the amount of nicotine in the vapor that controls the amount of puffs you take. It's your preference. If you smoked fierce filterless full flavors (the amount of "f's" was not intentional) you vape on 24mg because it is the closest to what you're used to.

You shouldn't jump into making your own juice just yet. The stuff you're talking about is meant for people who do so. Please, before doing anything, make sure you check out the DIY forum. You'll find safety tips and such to help protect yourself.

Hi Sam, Welcome to ECF. I understand being on a budget. If you would like, PM me and I have a couple of toppers and juice I could gift you as well.

You made an excellent investment. I have the MVP and love it. It is as hassle-free as it gets, and the battery lasts a very long time without a charge. Also, I always get my juice from Mt. Baker Vapor. I find it very pleasant to vape, and you cannot beat the price and great service.

I haven't lit up a cigarette since I got my first set up in January this year. I've saved tons and tons of money compared to smoking, and feel so much better, too.

Good luck to you. You're on the right track!:)

Oh goodness I nearly had a heart attack after reading this post. Please please please do not try to vape 100 mg strength. People die from doing that. I am on a budget as well and couldn't afford paying almost twelve bucks for a pack of cigs each day. I got my Ego kit and some juice for about $40 and that was at the expensive shop. I have now found better prices elsewhere. Chargers are incredibly cheap and so is juice at a lot of places. I would definitely hold off on trying to make your own juices for a good while. Good luck to you.

100 mg is apparently 10% nicotine, but obviously still harsh. I had no idea 10 mg was 10%, if I knew I wouldn't have considered it. Nicotine is potent.

And I guess I'll give flavors a chance. Do they cost a significant amount of money in your experience?

Thst's good. I don't know why anyone smokes cigs anymore since they are both expensive and harmful. I don't like the fact that NYC banned e-cigs. It will keep people smoking regular cigs.

I'll try using premade juices first, and see if it's cost-effective and everything, maybe later I'll make my own after I do more reading.

Thanks!

That was the best statement you made. I quit a 50 year habit last January using Evod. Two tanks, two batteries. They don't last long. Keep one on charger. $40.00 plus a 30 mg bottle of juice if my choice. I started at 18 mg on nic and it was too harsh. I now use a mvp2 with a nautilus tank and a aero tank. I buy 90mg of juice at $45.00 a month. After buying a carton of cigs at$50.00 a week I am saving a bunch including my life. I am on SSN and get paid once a month. There are ways to save money and Ecigs are the best over cigs. Oh and I am at 8 mg of nic now. Get the flavors you like to munch on, double chocolate mint stops my eating junk which saved on food bills and I have lost weight.
