Hey there! So my mech mod took a crap on me, I have a Turtle ship v3 and the copper contact firing pin broke when I dropped it, So, Im out of luck, and I want to get into box mods. but there are SO MANY out there. And I just have no idea what to go for. So I have a few "things" I want out of it, and maybe some of you can inform me on what is not so important and the differences, as well as give recommendations.

But before that, Id love to meet someone that has a lot of different mods, box mods, attys, builds tons of coils and knows their business, and lives in driving distance of my area, I would really love to have a little vape jam sesh and be able to see this stuff in person, and use it, taste the difference in flavor on different set ups at different voltages, or wattages, with different air flow, etc etc.... Id bring a 12 pack of beer of your choice if you were inclined to meet up :) Im in South Orange County, CA. Would love to meet someone that can school me. If you are down to meet, send me a pm.

As far as a box mod, I know there is like the HEXOHM and the DNA40, Im sure there are others, but I dont like the larger size of them.

- I dont like larger box mods, once that hold 2 batteries, I have held a DNA40, and that is about the right size.

- I plan on putting a Magma RDA on it, and want to build it for pure FLAVOR and super DENSE flavor.

- Here is the other thing, I am broke, Like havn't worked in 2 years because of a medical condtion broke, and I just dont have 200 bux to buy an original DNA40, So i was looking at picking up like a 70 dollar clone on ebay, or even a different box mod that is on the cheaper end that works pretty well.

- 40w, 50w, 100w? I have heard mixed things about this, People say 40 is plenty, and others say 40 sucks, get the 100w. Especially if you want to show off every now and again and blow some massive clouds. - I have no idea what wattage I should shoot for, and why I would want it.

- I also don't know about the coils that will work on it, I usually build sub ohm coils, 26g parallel 4 wrap. and right now I am running a 20g single coil 5 wrap on my mech mod, However with all of these, I still have not got that IN YO FACE flavor that people seem to rave about, (OH, I am using a mutation x rda) My next idea was to try a 22g flattened kanthol build. For every day sitting around use, Id rather it be set up for a dense mouthfull of flavor, but have the option to be able to crank it up and just get some FAT CLOUDS out of it regardless of taste, like, when a friend comes over lol.

- TEMP CONTROL, the COOLEST and one of the reasons I was eyeballing the DNA40 was cus of this, but I hear people say that its a pain to actually build a coil that works, and its so much tinkering that it just sucks and doesn't work well, but on the off chance that you can get it to work, it works great. So, that would be a let down if it wasn't as easy as building a kanthol coil..... I thought it would be just the same, except using different wire.

- Regulated box mod, or unregulated? I tired taking the atty off my mod (Parallel 26g) and putting it on a dna40 at my local shop and it wouldn't even fire it. lame.

- So maybe something like the hexohm would be easier? Pop a coil on, turn it all the way down, hit, adjust, hit, adjust, etc etc. Only thing is, That means the battery drops off right? - I like the idea of mods that give you a contestant hit each time (This should be part of the last one above here)

So many questions, so many options, and I have never tried any of it, Id love to actually taste, feel, see the difference between all this stuff. And see just HOW MUCH of a difference it all really is.

As of now, IM about to pick up a pack of smokes if I cant jimmy this broken mod together, So I need to get a cheap box mod ordered asap (Under 100 bux would be nice) Can someone recommend something? Im gong to try and barrow some money so I can get the real deal DNA40, or real hexohm or whatever, but even if I spend the money, I would have no idea what is going to work best for me... and if I cant make it happen, I still need to find something cheap for the time being that will still work well, maybe not be everything I ever wanted, but still work for a good 5-8 months until I can start making money again if my health gets back on track. Im more ...... off about my crohns disease because I cant work and spend money on vape stuff more than actually ending up with crohns in the first place hahaha.

OK, thats enough for now, my brain hurts and im half asleep. lol

Any and all help, seriously appreciated.

I can't help too much on a recommendation as the only box I own is a sigelei 100+ and you said you didn't want one too big. I will say that I'd be looking at 70w and up boxes to be on the safe side if you go super subohm dripping. Generally with a .2 build on my tobh atty, I'll run between 65-75 watts depending on how warm I want my vape, what gauge wire I'm running, and what juice I'm using.

You may vape a bit different though and my advise may not apply. haha

Really? That high? I was watching a rip trippers video and he said even on a 1.5 ohm build that vaping at like 15w is the "sweet spot" for flavor. Vapor production as far as SIZE is not really that important to me, I mean, to an extent, I dont want it hitting like a ego-c twist with a kanger tank on it or something lol, Decent clouds, with the emphisis on flavor...

I have a new Magma rda and I am going to try and find a nice coil set up that just chucks the FLAVOR, and then would like to find a box mod that I can use to get the final wattage adjustment just right.

1.5 ohms at 15 watts will take forever. And I do mean forever to heat up. Probably time out first depending on your mod. go for a segelei 100 or even an ipv2. Around $80ish minus batteries

Or, if you want to save a couple bucks, roll with something pocketable and use the batteries that you already have, check out the ipv mini v2 70w. Great board, portable, can charge via usb, etc.

You may have to do another wrap or two to get an optimal vape. But that's the beauty of regulated mods, you just toss more power at the coil with the push of a button. I prefer building just under 1 ohm on regulated mods to take advantage of surface area.

That depends mainly on how you achieve those 1.5 ohms. You can make a 1.5 ohm coil that takes forever to heat up at 15 watt - with thick wire. Or you can make one that heats up quick enough to melt instantly if you use a too thin wire. Striking a balance between heat applied and amount of coiling material to heat is key to efficient vapor production.

I agree with wattwick!
dual coil, 30 guage on a 2mm mandrel, about 13-14 wraps each. Should come in around 1.5 ohms and heats up pretty quick at 15w.

Just saying!!
