I'm an 808 fan (hot vapor + cheap cartos) but I'm a little frustrated with the limited battery and passthrough options I'm finding. It seems like all the vendors are selling the same stuff (same crap, is what I really want to say, but I don't want to offend any vendors who might be listening).

I see V4L (vapor4life.com) has a beautiful selection of 808-threaded mods, variable voltage batteries, etc, but they seem pretty overpriced. Does anyone know of any good alternatives?

Should I be searching for a different type that's 808-compatible (like 901 or something, though I'm not clear on whether they're really the same)?

Especially, I haven't had a manual 808 passthrough that's lasted more than maybe two months, and most die even sooner. All the vendors seem to be selling the same one. V4L's passthrough is the first one I've seen that looks different, but their customer reviews show the same issue (they die soon).

You want a pass-through, get a Volt X2 from Smokeless Image. They're iGo-styled fat batteries with pass-through charging, much better than a strict pass-through.

As far as vendors, off the top of my head:

Smokeless Image, V4L, Cig2o, Bloog, CigEasy and V2 for branded vendors. Of those, V4L and S.I. have the best atomizer options. I would skip V4L's mods, because they're extremely over-priced.

- MadVapes has the same Gripper as V4L, as well as the Roughstack in 808 and both are cheaper.

- NHaler has both the iGo and Echo Revolver, VV Twist-style batteries. V4L also has a Twist-style, but over-priced. NHaler actually has probably the largest broad selection of 808 options.

- Mountain Vapors, Northwest Vapors and Cropduster901 are great places for the Echo. They have some regular CE4/CE4+ and cartomizers as well.

- S.I. has the CE3, CE4, Nano and T3.

- Sterling Vapor has the Tidy 10's

- EVCigarettes, My Vapor Store, Lakeshore Vapors, Good Prophets, Vapor Smith's, LiteCig USA and a host of others for random stuff.

901 and 808 technically have compatible thread-types. However, an 808 atomizer will not work on a 901 battery without an adapter. 901 atomizers should fire just fine on an 808 manual battery, but they probably won't fire on an automatic due to air flow issues. I have an 808 battery extender in the mail to see if this fixes the problem.

Good luck!

Looks like I have a lot to check out. Johnnie, the Volt X2 seems to be only for cone cartomizers/atomizers, and doesn't have standard 808 threads, is that right?

I'm only really interested in 808 threading cause of the cheap cartomizers, which I happen to have a bulk supply of right now (from Vaporleaf.com, cheapest/best 808 cartos I've used). The passthrough battery from O2 seems to be 808 threaded -- first one of those I've seen yet for 808s, great find, thanks Underwhelmed! -- I'll probably pick up one of those.

Thanks for all the replies so far, this is great guys. Thanks.

The X2 and the O2 Infinity (based on pictures) are iGo-styled batteries. They have cone threads, yes, but like the eGo they have an interior threading. Only on the iGo model the interior threading is 808 instead of 510. Any standard 808 atomizer will fit on these devices just fine, the cone threads are just for aesthetics. The larger CE4-styled clearos have an empty skirt to cover these cone threads, but except for the T3's from Smokeless Image there is no atomizer which requires them.

And if I were to pick between the 2 today, I'd go for the O2 Infinity based solely on price. You can get 2 650 mAh batteries from them for $2.00 more than 1 1300 mAh from S.I.

The iGos with pass-through charging are great devices. I have a 1300 from S.I. and although I've moved back to automatics, it's still a great device for when my autos are dead or for firing up my beloved 901 attys. :)

Thanks for all the great info. Good to know the X2/iGo has standard 808 threads.

I've been using a 2700 mAh battery pack (meant for charging iPhones etc) with a "passthrough". It lasts an awesomely long time, but the visible wire makes people think I'm on emphysema meds...

So anything more standard won't last nearly as long as I'm used to. The 1300 from Smokeless Image is therefore tempting. But the O2 price for a 900 is too good ($18), so I'm probably gonna go with that to start out. I'll likely try one of the variable voltage options I found due to all these great pointers you all posted soon too.

Thanks again everyone!

Hiya - the X2 has 808 and Ego threads. You can use 808 cartos or clearos with them fine. I've used Smokeless Image and Kanger 808 cartomizers with mine. Some ego threaded stuff works on them too. You can buy cones for them, or as mentioned use ego cones.

I ordered the big passthrough battery from O2, but I just realized it's 3.7v regulated. I'm planning to use this as a replacement for my "non-battery" unregulated passthroughs, from which I'm used to getting around 5v.

I found these two:

KGO V.V. 650mAh
Revolver iGo Batteries

The Hoosier goes up to 6v (!!) but apparently has a non-standard USB connection that scares me; plus it's a "KGO", and I don't know what kind of threads that has (I hate it when they assume you know and don't make it clear!). The NHaler looks like it's just a battery, without the passthrough (no built-in charger).

Are there any variable-voltage (or, constant ~4.8v) 808 batteries with a standard USB passthrough?

I prefer CigEasy's 808 threaded systems... and I've tried them all. Had a LOT of problems similar to all of the ones you mentioned.

I'm still vaping Go-go batteries and 808 threaded pass throughs I purchased from CigEasy over two years ago! (However I do 'pamper' my equipment and have many 808 units in rotation).

Frank carries only the highest quality systems. http://www.cigeasy.com/product_p/fury.htm He may not be 'bargain basement', but his products consistently deliver for me ... and I put performance right up there with price every single time ... ;)

Just my :2c: and I wish you luck with this!

I broke down and ordered a Vapor4Life passthrough, but if/when that one dies I'll try CigEasy's. Thanks for the recommendation :)

I don't see a pass through on V4L's site but I also didn't look too hard.

I would recommend SI, Nhaler and Cigeasy for your 808 needs.

Vapor King Manual USB Passthrough | Vapor4Life
Vapor King Auto USB Passthrough | Vapor4Life

Nhaler and SI don't have the kind I want (unregulated manual). Cigeasy seems to have it (here), which I'll probably try once the V4L one dies. Bloog also has one (here) but they've been out-of-stock for a while.

I'd alternatively go for a VV true passthrough (battery that can charge while you vape it) with standard mini/micro USB connection. It doesn't appear to exist yet, at least not for 808.

For my portable I'm looking for an extra-long (>100mm) standard diameter manual battery with a cutoff of more than 5 seconds.

I'd just give up on 808s if not for the 100 or so cartomizers I still have for it :)

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys :)
