Thanks for the ReoGrand tutorial! Very cool to see the setup. It’s dead simple! The idea of feeding the juice directly from the bottle to the atomizer is very interesting. Does it have a whick? Does anything need to be replaced beyond batteries and e-juice?

The Bottom Line:
Very sage advice :D Thanks!

SawLight:
Thanks for another vote for Reo and Provari. I’ll check them out. Nemesis mod looks very cool. Just like the light saber. :D

Davewuvswaffles:
What’s a kick? Do you have a link to “Vella”?

Pianman6954:
Still trying to understand the difference between VV and VW. More stuff to research! :)

Shadus:
I initially thought Volcano Lavatube used proprietary threads. So I was ready to dump it. I went from Blu to Volcano so I’m still a newb :) Good idea about keeping it as backup.

Royce:
Thanks for the vote for Provari. Is it much better than Lavatube? Is it drastically better?

Also..
Not loaded :) WA charges about $9 a pack so between my gf and I we saved well over 10K by switching to ecig over the past 1.5 years! Even with the carto and e-juice re-orders. Figured we’d use this opportunity to get something truly awesome. We’ll still come out ahead on cost and everything else we gain (e.g. being able to taste, smell, breath better) is priceless :) Only used Blu and Volcano so far so I have a LOT to learn! :D

If you want to use a carto tank, Provari. If you want a bulletproof mech with an incredible RBA vape, get a Reo. There is absolutely no reason to spend $500 on a setup. Almost any device over $200, you are paying for rarity / collector value, which makes no sense to me whatsoever, but to each his own.

If I had $500 to spend right now on mods, I would buy 2 more Reo Grands and a pair of RM2s and a bunch of juice.

I think my preferred line-up has been mentioned already. I use a ProVari with carto-tanks and a Reo mini with LR attys. I have other toys that go in and out of rotation, but the ProReo is my go to device.
Pretty much mine as well - Reo Grand with a Reomizer 2.0 and a ProVari with carto tanks. No regrets about either of them, they're both well-made, sturdy, reliable devices that deliver a consistently excellent vape. No desire for anything else at this point (except maybe another Reo or two).

A Kick is a little module that you can drop into unregulated mods in order to turn it into a VV/VW mod. The Kick 2 recently came out and can do a bit more. You can read about it: Our Products « Evolv

A Caravella is an extremely expensive mechanical mod made in Portugal. They were a limited run of 1,000 devices with a sign up list that's been pretty much booked solid for as long as I can remember. I believe they cost around $1,500 USD each, though buying one from a current owner would probably be much, much more expensive. I held one once at a meet up and it sure was an exquisite piece of craftsmanship. You can see a few on their page: Caravela Mods

ProVari and some kick ... RBA, and why not an eVic, Vamo or SVD as a backup. A couple of Vivi Novas and/or iClear 16/30 is nice as well.

I use a Vamo v2 and iClear as my daily vape now days and I really enjoy it. :vapor:

Good luck, I hope you find what you're looking for! :)

For his budget he can get a Provari as a back up for his Provari and come in under his price for one of the two MODs...

I agree with Provari/Reo Grand.

In my opinion yes, its made from high quality materials and made well. A lot of the VV mods out there are either inspired by or straight knock offs of the provari. Also its pretty simple and intuitive to use and change setting ect unlike a lot of the mods which can be very confusing with all the different settings ect especially if you're new to mods. After you use it for a bit and get a feeling for what voltages you like to vape at for different set ups and OHMs it requires very little tinkering in my experience besides changing the bat or slightly adjusting the voltage every now and again. I rebuild my own protank heads so my unit is pretty much set it and forget it. It is also built like a tank I've dropped it countless times from decent heights onto concrete, asphalt, and tile and there are maybe 4-5 hardly noticeable nicks and works exactly as well as when I bought it almost 2 years ago now. I had quite a collection of mods before I picked up the provari and besides the ones I built myself I've since gotten rid of everything else since they just sat around collecting dust. In fact as soon as I can afford it I'm going to pick up a provari mini to travel with and have as a back up.

I HAD a Lava tube, now I HAVE a Provari! There is no comparison between the two! Every time I accidentally dropped the LT I knew in my mind it would be the last time it would work! I drop my Provari 3' onto concrete to show it's durability and don't cringe when I do so! I waited for the day that the threads on the battery cap would strip and the spring would push it out as the cap and battery went flying out! The threading for the 510 connector was so loose that I bought a 510 to Ego adapter so I wouldn't have to worry about stripping the threads out!
Yes it's $40, and yes, you really do get what you pay for!

The wick material can be silica, ekowool, or cotton from balls/rolls and needs to be replaced periodically. You'll need resistance wire for the micro coil which also need to be replaced, but far less often. REO sells 3 foot samples of wire at a reasonable price, and I recommend getting some 28 AWG and 30 AWG to see what you like. You'll want a multimeter to measure both your coil resistance (and to ensure no short) and get a feel for battery voltage. I use a Cen-Tech like the one sold by RTDvapers.com (use ECF5) for a discount, where you'll probably want to get your AW IMR batteries and charger.
