Madvapes has a flavor called Candy Cane that is a good peppermint. I liked it so much that I ordered some more. It's a PG/VG mix that you probably want to dedicate a carto for.

I like Minthol, too. It is, to me, a Lifesavers Cryst-O-Mint type of flavor. I add it to tobacco flavors occasionally. I'm not a big fan of many of the menthol flavors. I get a mothball sense from most I've tried.

I'm pretty sure the peppermint oil can be used. One of the ejuice vendors sells Loranns and they mention "that if you use this product in your e-liquids, that it be accompanied by a few drops of ethyl alcohol to aid in breaking down the oils for easier incorporation." Ethyl alcohol means something like Everclear vodka, NOT rubbing alcholol (which can make you go blind. Seriously). I bought a small bottle to try to strenghthen the flavor of a premixed peppermint juice and it seems to work OK, although I only started this today, so I guess the jury is still out.
If you're looking for a premixed juice, check this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/267955-peppermint-ejuice.html
