So, I am relatively new to vaping but have a couple good friends that are very experienced and guiding me through my journey. Right now I am just using an evod battery and Aspire BDC tanks. I am looking to upgrade and have been looking at mods. I will likely be using an Aspire Nautilus tank. I went to one B & M store and the Vamo 5 was highly recommended. I went to another B & M to look around and checked out the Smoktech Magneto and really liked it. Being a woman I liked that I could use a smaller battery so it was a little more compact as I have smaller hands. Also, my dominant hand (right) is affected by a bit of peripheral neuropathy (basically a bit of numbness and a pins and needles feeling). I also have carpal tunnel which makes my hands a bit weaker and shaky so I just can't have anything too heavy. I tried my husband's Hades and I /can/ use it one handed, but it is quite hard and tires my hand rather quickly. I don't want to have to vape two handed, lol.

Basically I am looking for opinions. I know this is something that can be very subjective. I am just looking for something user friendly, relatively lightweight (obviously I know this is a mod and a certain amount of weight is expected), and something not too pricey. I am on disability and definitely on a budget.

Thanks so much in advance. I love this forum and have gotten so much helpful information. I was only a light mostly social smoker but I have not had a cigarette in over a week and do not miss it one bit. I thought it would be harder especially when having a cocktail, but luckily for me the local bar where I hang out is where I was introduced to vaping. The karaoke DJ is the one who introduced me to it and his girlfriend vapes too. My husband is over a week with no cigars (he smoked black and milds, never cigarettes, but he smoked a pack of blacks a day). Now our whole table is vaping and even though there are smokers all around me I don't crave one. I barely finished the last 3 I had in my pack because it tasted so bad compared to my delicious ejuice/

Congrats on quitting cigs!! Based on what you're telling me, you might look into a box mod like a MVP V2. The shape of the box gives you a good grip and the button is not hard to press at all. In terms of a mech mod, you should be ok with any mech mod that has a spring button switch. Stay away from the magnetic switches, they normally require more pressure to push.

One thing I'll say, because of the carpal tunnel, you'll always need to be aware with a mech mod and not tighten the locking ring too tight. Most mech mods have a locking ring that is basically a washer that screws down to prevent the fire button from being depressed. However, if you over tighten it (usually happens to me when the locking ring is *not* reverse threaded, and I tighten the button ring after a battery change), it can be a challenge to unscrew, especially with carpal tunnel.

My first mech mod was a Chi You clone. Very soft fire button, but the locking ring would always tighten when I tightened the bottom cap during the battery change. I started changing the battery by unscrewing the 18650 section, instead of the bottom ring and that fixed that situation.

Good luck to ya!

See, I am so sensitive to the aesthetics of things and the box type mods just turn me off for some reason. I have vaped off a friends and it does the job for sure and are nice, but are just not as aesthetically pleasing to me, so even though it might be a bit heavier, I definitely want a cylindrical mod. My carpal tunnel is not severe, but something as heavy as the hub's Hades did bother me. The Magneto telescoped down to its smallest size seemed comfortable for me, but was wondering what else people might recommend. I definitely have decided that the Vamo 5 might be a little big, as much as I liked it.

From your post it seems you haven't decided if you want a regulated or mechanical mod and you also didn't mention your price range.

Mech mods are always shorter then regulated mods (with the same battery), on the other hand regulated mods can be made from lighter materials, because the mod body doesn't need to be conductive.

If you want light very short mech there's the microstick.
If you want a regulated tube style mod there's the innokin svd (i will never recommend the vamo)

Just bumping to get some more suggestions. Really have a hard time deciding. Also, I am on a budget (disability) so whatever I choose I have to save for....which sucks I want to upgrade NOW! LOL.

Remember I need something relatively light
Easy button pushing (I like bottom buttons but does not have to be)
Newbie friendly!

Thanks so much for those that have already replied!

Between the vamo and the magneto:
Get the VAMO.

Do not get a mech mod unless you actually know what you are doing and understand battery safety.

I am being "tutored" by two very, very experienced vapers, one is is the "Dr. Mod" at one of my local vape shop so I am getting lots of education on safety. I am a former elementary school teacher and I am all for understanding a concept before using it and I definitely plan on being safe.

A note on the Vamo - I have Vamo V2. Two of them actually. One I've used heavily - have had it about 18 months now I think. Definitely over a year anyway. Its not very big in 18350 mode - and it sounds like that would suit you. Here's a pic to give an idea:

I'd recommend a mech mod but my favorite one is a box mod which isn't your thing. There are plenty of mech mods discussed in the APV section of the forum tho. I know some-one who has some difficulty with holding mods and she opted for the Smoktech telescope mod.
Pic here:
Rebuildable Telescope Adjustable Mod

By all accounts its sturdy. I don't know how it performs with sub-ohm builds if that's your thing.

Do they have couple extra mods they can loan you?...Usually experience vapors have back ups for backups..etc...
In my drawer alone, I have Private v2 mech, Turtle v2 clone, Magneto and some other stuff.
Try before you buy.
By trying them out, you can get feel for them..nothing sucks worse than having buyers remorse. It doesn't hurt to ask.
