Really need some help choosing a Mod

Okay, I really, really want to upgrade to a mod, I watch all these reviewers videos and their huge collections of mods, tanks, etc with much envy I have to admit. When choosing what to upgrade to I have some challenges though that make it a bit more difficult. I have some pretty narrow criteria that I have to adhere to.

  • Price: I am on a pretty strict budget. Of course I don't want something super cheaply made that will crap out on me in a couple months, but I need to keep it as inexpensive as possible because obviously the price of the Mod is not the only expense because of batteries, charger, tank, etc. I am on disability with a stack of medical bills from a health crisis I had that left me wheelchair bound for awhile, so my vaping budget is definitely NOT what I would like it to be. I am even not opposed to getting one "gently used" but I am waiting to be verified so I can have access to the classified section of the forum. Now if there is a "vaping fairy" that would like to gift the poor disabled chick with one that would be cool too. :p
  • Size: I need something on the smaller size and something not too heavy. I have neuropathy (nerve damage) in my hands as well as carpal tunnel so I just can't hold a heavy mod for any length of time without it hurting my hand. A friend has a Hades and I can only vape on that thing a couple of times before I have to put it down and rest my hand.
  • Design: I do not like box style mods, that is just my aesthetic preference. I need something that fits easily into the hand and most importantly has a button that does not have TOO much resistance. I like bottom button mods, I don't like the side buttons that stick out. I am also looking for a mechanical mod.

I would greatly appreciate your suggestions and if you can include pictures and iinks to websites that would be absolutely awesome. I absolutely LOVE my cigarette free lifestyle and I love vaping, but admittedly am jealous when I am with my group of "vaping friends" and they all are blowing clouds of vapor all around me with their beautiful mods and I am using my evod. As an aside, I think I have chosen the Kanger Aerotank as the tank I will go with.

Thank you in advance for your help. I am addicted to this forum and reading it has definitely cut into my sleep for the past few weeks.

It is very rare that I recommend this mod, but it may suit your liking. It is relatively inexpensive (depending on your definition) and with just a bit of work is a real performer.

Hammer Clone by Hcigar - 101 Vape

It takes 18350 batteries, and I find the comfortable configuration palming it in my hand, firing with my index finger. Speaking about the work, it does have issues with voltage drop, so you may need to considering purchasing a different top cap. I believe the chi-you cap solves this problem. You could also visit your local locksmith store and ask them for a few brass screws, allowing you to replace the included stock screw. However, it may not be for you.

The only other thing I think I can recommend is the innokin MVP. It's not a mechanical mod, but it is a great device. The button isn't on the side, but near flush to the center, however I don't think you'll notice it after a while.

I would like to point out that those clouds of vapor aren't directly attributed to the mechanical itself. Mechanical mods operate at 4.1v down to 3.6, and your typical atomizer (kanger, nautilus, evod etc) will not really put forth much. In order to chase the cloud, you need to venture into drippers, rebuildables, etc, or recoiling, as a lower resistance coil is what lets you blow those sweet, sweet clouds.

I hope I could be of some service, though I apologize...it is incredibly late and I probably sound like a babbling fool

The Hammer is heavy though. The Origin mod is very light-weight, the switch is very easy to press (will autofire when standing up if you don't engage the locking ring though), and a clone can be had for less than $20 if you order directly from China. Mech mods don't have any safety features and to get the most out of them you need to build your own coils (which I'm guessing might be difficult for you with your disability), so they might not be the best choice.

MissyG I agree with the others that a mechanical mod is best used with a rebuildable atomiser but I've taken note of your friends Hades and hope I'm safe in assuming your friend will provide assistance . And one wants what one wants so I'm giving you a link for a Smoktech Magneto , the genuine item not a clone , it's not too heavy , it telescopes so you can use different size batteries , it's made out of stainless steel really no worries about durability , and it has a bottom firing magnetic button , smooth and no stiff springs to hurt your hand , lastly at $35 dollars it won't break the bank , I hope this helps .

My suggestion is the Pisces-T. Telescoping, very lightweight (without a battery, you would swear it was made out of aluminum and not SS), kickable and a great switch (feather touch and will fire when standing up -- be sure to lock it) and locking ring. It's one of the smaller mods I own with the Nemesis dwarfing it using same battery configuration.

    $21.18 Pisces-T Style Electronic Cigarette Mechanical Mod - Silver + Golden (1 x 18650/18500)

If you want something that will take an 18350, then I suggest an Astro.

$21.04 Astro Telescopic Mechanical Mod - stainless steel+brass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I own both and use both every day.

101vape has the iTaste VVv3 for around $26. Very budget friendly, and very hand friendly. Around the size of an ego, with all the function of an advanced device. Has variable volt, variable watts, ohm checking and passthrough capability. At 800 mAh, it may not last all day, but the passthrough feature helps with that, an I always recommend to get two devices. It's smart to have a back up.

I'm afraid I won't be of much help in mech mods. My first is on its way to me. An Infinite Black Copper Stingray clone. Looks pretty small if you look online, but I won't know for sure until it arrives.

Last, you can try taking a look over at PIF. Pay It Forward. It's a sub forum where people trade juice and vape gear. If they want to give away items for free, there's even a Treasure Chest section that you can stalk and grab freebies.
