I don't think the Vision Spinners with a port is a strict passthru; it's just for onboard charging (instead of a 510 charger) but it does have an internal battery, so you can vape and charge at the same time. Though some people don't recommend that.

I'll cast my vote for the Pico as well. It's main draw is it's small size but still pretty lightweight (with 18650 battery installed).

Just to clear something up --

The original Pass-Thru's did not have a battery attached to them and got their energy from the electric connection, often via a USB port. Occasionally some can be found, but it is somewhat rare. This is what the OP may be remembering from his early days of vaping....2010.

Many mods today have USB charging and some of them can be vaped while it's plugged in unless the battery charge is really really low. People have come to call that "pass=thru". As not all electronics allow that feature when charging via USB, the sellers will say "pass-thru" capable or similar wording.

Yes, all batteries degrade with use and can only be re-charged XXX amount of times. You may have noticed that you are charging more frequently than when the pen style was new. Well, that's the battery essentially being used up. Eventually, it will not re-charge. This is true with all the batteries we use, whether they are fixed within the device or replaceable. It's true with our cel phones and laptops, too --- but perhaps not quite as apparent with other devices.

Sorry all, but no 18650 mod is "light". I readily remember my shock of the weight of just the battery when I bought my first light weight wood mod. I'm happy to say I adjusted rather rapidly and well, but it is always an adjustment.

Thanks I've been dying for someone to come in here and explain the real meaning of pass-through or pass-thru for the OP. I had a shaky handle on it.

That Encom Voidray actually IS light though. 66 grams, pretty sure with an 18650 in it it's lighter than my Eleaf Istick 50w.

@Haktuspit Cool. One other tidbit --- One is actually vaping off the remaining charge left in the battery when they vape with it plugged in. Actual charging and vaping can't be done at the same time.

So, if you've let your battery run low enough to cut off the power, you'll have to wait a bit for that battery indicator to climb at least a hair before continuing to vape.

Seems to me a lot of USB charging devices can be used this way, but it isn't always mentioned in their features.

Now you got me curious -- I must google that Encom Voidray!

Yeah I haven't even thought about pass-thru since that one time I almost bought one in 2013 but that was the way I remembered it. I'll have nothing to do with charging while vaping, thanks. I don't even charge any batteries through a device, charger only. Except for that Eleaf, even that I won't charge off my PC.

I've got a bunch of new devices, RX200, Kboxes, Vaporesso Tarot 200, NEbox. That Voidray is my favorite. Think they're a new brand so kind of a dark horse buy but I watched people just abusing the things on youtube and still vaping it and figured why not. Considering it as a candidate for a couple more for the stockpile.

The pico is not the lightest but I do like how it looks, will be checking it out at the store this friday when they get new stock :)

Hm I suppose it's not super lightweight. But it really took me no time at all to get used to it. All of my tiny super lightweight mods are internal batteries (mini istick and my mini volt). But I have noticed since I got my two Pico's they are now the most used throughout the day. There's so much to choose from, lol, everyone has their favorites. I've come across my favorites mostly by trial and error :thumb:

You could fit up to any 24 mm tank without any overhang, so yes

I am interested in this tank, but looking at the faq it didnt list aspire tanks as one of the compatibles, or am I misunderstanding something?

    Vapes FAQ | Vaporesso

I want to use my tank because i have stocked lots of coils for it, and dont want to waste them :)

Oh wait, i just went back and read again, it was talking about the coils..... They are not cheap, i want the pink one and the only site that carries pink is charging 53 bucks for it.

Thank you for the explanations, I am in no way arguing but I have been vaping while charging using different batteries, iTaste, vision spinners, vapros nunchuku for years. But now after reading your posts, I will be more careful but i will be honest when i first read about it, I was like, why would you not make the batteries vapable while charging. All good, didn't think you were arguing. I left a battery charged in a mod for an entire year, which is longer than some people even keep their batteries for at all. Recently convinced my Dad to stop using his devices as chargers and buy a battery charger, could decrease the life of your battery and device I've been told.

Besides getting away from Pass-through and into multiple battery rotation is easy and better anyways. I'd hate to have a cord to drag around with this thing.

That's great. I'm glad it's making more sense now. I didn't see arguing either.

There are a few threads with some great people that are well versed in light weight, small, and current devices. (Itty Bitty, Tootle Puffer, one of which was linked earlier). Just speak up and you'll get lots of help. This recent one has a lot of info about the latest cute short boxes with some great pictures. Micro mods!

So after reading all the posts I think i will go for a mod with external battery. Looks like i might just go with the pico. Now i need to choose battery and im thinking the lg hg with 3000 mah.

Does that sound good? Do i need 3000mah or will the he2 be enough? Less mah will be lighter right?

I want to thank everyone who responded. Your information is all so valuable and have helped me so much. Big THANK YOU!!

"Not for everybody" because not everyone wants the same thing.
There are some big differences in some of those mods and I just wanted to give some ideas on the weights.

Looking at the weight it definitely looks like the vv gripper or hana, but im a sucker for appearance and the pico does look so much better. Its a battle between weight and appearance!

I put my vapes in my purse and try not to put too much weights in there because shoulder issues. Thats why weight is very important to me. Especially when i am on trips i will usually have to bring extra batteries dont want to kill my shoulder...

All solid choices, I have a ton of HG2's, most people do. I actually don't own a Pico but I've read enough good about them on here that my order will be for 3 of them.
