I am just ultimately frustrated with myself for still smoking analogs~! I can be chain vaping and still want an analog. Then, I can be smoking an analog and crave a vape flavor. I've done some reading about the other chemicals in cigs and how it may be something else I'm craving. Could possibly be the nic since anything over 18mg makes me cough like crazy.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please don't say just stop smoking them, it just isn't that easy. I'm thinking maybe going with small steps like, 1.make my vehicle non smoking 2.remove all ashtrays from my view (hard to do with mom still smoking) 3.make myself only smoke outside~will be really inconvienient in a month or so. 4.if I buy another pack, I think I'm going to buy non menthols. Maybe since it won't be what I'm used to I'll be less apt to want to smoke them.

I love to vape, I WANT to not smoke; why am I struggling so bad???

Thanks for reading

Everyone has to fight their own demons with giving up analogs, and what works for one may not work for another. All of the things you suggested are steps in the right direction. Just don't give up! It won't happen over night, but as long as you keep trying, eventually you will win. I believe in you girl!

Pah! As if we'd ever say "well just quit." We know it's not that easy - never-smokers have been telling us that for years, and we all know how ignorant they sound saying it. Over half of people who vape don't quit on that first day. Some take months.

I think your ideas are good ones. Particularly on the last one, I have a vaper friend who struggled to quit and started smoking menthols specifically because she didn't like them. She was successful in quitting, and hasn't smoked in a few months. It took her about 3 months to quit, though.

Have you tried higher nic with VG juice? That may soften up the hit enough for you to be able to handle it. Failing that, try Swedish snus, or snuff. A lot of people find that using smokeless tobacco helps if they need some of those "other" chemicals, and the health risks are very low - much lower than smoking. Many of them then taper off the smokeless tobacco and go to full-time vaping.

My first thought is that your nic level is probably too low. Do you cough now while smoking cigs?

There are 2 smokers here and their packs are in plain site. If I'm tempted I immediately pick up my pv. It is a conscious decision to do that and after a couple of draws, all temptation is a brief memory. Same thing with any trigger..after meals, stress etc. This was all harder when I did lower nic. I'm doing 24mg and in control.

Be kind to yourself with this. Now that you're vaping think of how many cigs you've not had. .

For me quitting came gradually.I smoked less and less and only recently realized "hey,I don't remember when I smoked my last cigarette!"You're on the right path so don't stress over it.I smoked 2 or more ppd for over 40 years so I know if I was able to quit anyone can and I owe it all to e-cigs.

constant state of confusion
You are on the right path. Don't be so hard on yourself. I wanted on of those little tickers in my signature so bad, but I couldn't give up my analogs especially first thing in the morning. That throat hit from the pv was so harsh first thing in the morning that I dreaded picking it up. I was doing 24 mg PG/VG mix. I bought a small lot of juice in classifieds that had a small 10 ml bottle of 36mg VG juice and it was not a flavor I thought I would like but I tried it. That is the first day I went without analogs. I am out now and struggling again. It doesn't help that my son is chain smoking playing Black Ops 3 feet away from me. After Christmas I will buy another bottle of 36mg VG unless someone has a killer sale before that. Have a 510 coming from Librarising for my son and that will help. The throat hit on 36mg VG is not too bad. I vaped it two straight days without analogs and that is what did it. If I had some, I would send it to you to try.
You have a lot of support here.
You can do this. One day at a time. (heck somedays it one minute at a time for me.)

It really is very simple.
E-cig are a gift, you discovered them and now use them.
You get your nicotine kick,
Just think about your health, every time you light up a cancer stick you do more harm to your body.
You have an alternative in your hands now.
Use it!
How much do you put down for a pack of cancer sticks?
$ 5.00 === $ 6.00====$ 7.00 ===???
What a waste of money.

Yes, you do need to over come some hurdles, you need to "talk" "debate" with yourself.
So what if you feel a little discomfort because you don't smoke a cigarette.
So what?
Is that going to kill you?
The answer is no.
I know when I started using the e-cig the hardest time for me was in the morning with my cup of coffee and in the evening right before I went to bed.
Then I said to myself: you have a choice..........you are in charge.......you can make a decision....what's it going to be?
I'm in charge here, sure the first couple of days I missed my 2 analogs I still smoked every day..... so what?
Then I made the decision not to buy any more packs of cigarettes.
It was scary, but I did it......again so what? I survived.
After 3 days I was over it.
All you need to do is make the step, grow a bone, really ask yourself : What Do I Want?
A craving lasts about 3 minutes.
When you get a craving take you e-cig, take some puffs.
Go outside, listen to some music, talk to someone on the phone, just anything to distract yourself, next thing you know the craving is gone.
Victory!
Good luck, it's really not that hard.

What PV's do you use and what one , if any, provides the most satisfaction?

Everyone will approach this differently.

I refused to use my first dse901 until I had finished the 4 cartons of cigarettes I had in the freezer. From that day on, I made sure there were no cigarettes readily available, so I had no choice but to make do with the PV.

We're here for you girl. I think you are on the right path and off to a good start in so far as addressing the issue as you have. You're not ignoring it and looking right in the tiger's eye.
I think baby steps are a good start, then you can up the ante later. Looks to me like the "rules" you laid out to make changes are a great start.

Many years ago a friend of mine took a smoking cessation class in college (they gave it as an elective). They stated that there are so many triggers and habits that are formed when you smoke. You're favorite type ashtray, your favorite time to smoke, favorite place, etc.

Try to change these up and/or eliminate them. make it more difficult for yourself. Smoking outdoors only is a great deterrent. Took me a few years to make small changes that lead up to where I am today.

You will go through a short period, imho, where you make the transition to vape only, and you will be fighting the urge for a smoke, but you have vaping to help you through it. Worked for me and may be of help to you.

We all have faith in you and no one here is going to judge you, just support you.

I'm a year into vaping and I still crave the other chemicals in cigarettes. You're not alone. I keep stuff here to make my own cigarettes and when that craving is so intense I can think of nothing else, I make one and I smoke it. It's a pain to get the stuff out, fill up the little cigarette maker, slide the empty cigarette tube on and make the dang thing...then I go outside and smoke about half of it and it's terrible to taste. A couple (or a few) months later, I do it again. But it's getting less and less and someday it may just be gone from my life. That's my hope anyway. Just don't give up. Keep trying everything until you find something that works for you. I know you can do this. :)

I have one of my various mods in my hand from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep, just like with the gretzkys, and I chain vape the same way. I smoked for 29 years and never knew until I started vaping I didn't like the taste of tobacco!!! Its been more than 5 months since my last cigarette, 8 months since I started vaping, and every once in a while I think that one wouldn't hurt. As a son of an alky, grandson of two, I know there is no such thing as a harmless single of anything. When that crave comes, take a huge toke off that PV, cough your lungs out, and be happy at least there's no brown sludge coming out of your lungs -- I know that's gross but I never thought I'd be so appreciative of clear phlegm!!!:lol::lol:

I have little willpower myself so I understand, be strong, Lynlee.:)

Take it from someone who quit WITH another smoker in the house, too. I know how hard it is. And I gave in a few times, even abandoned my e-cig all together at one point. Just give it time, Keep searching for new flavors that you might like, get addicted to collecting them and trying new things. Think to yourself, if I don't buy a pack of cigarettes and make this one last, that's $9.00 I can put toward a new juice! Or a new atty, or even to save up for a really cool mod!

Smoking is a ..... of a habit to break. If you need any support.. You can always call me and we'll talk it out!

Thank you everyone so much~! I really do need the support, and I soooo appreciate you taking the time out of your day to reassure me. Really I think I've just gotten lax. I started by taking Chantix. 4 week emotional and physical rollercoaster and that was about it. I didn't smoke analogs for 4 days. Then I got drunk, nuff said. I bought a disposable Krave from a tobacco store, then I got a PureSmoke kit (1 batt, 1 atty, 4 carts= $80). Then I got online:) Found ecf and thanks to some great peoples suggestions I joined PIF. I feel so at home here, I really love you all~!

I got the KR808 autos from V4L with cartos and thought they were alright. Then my mom got an eGo kit PIF'd to her and she didn't like it, blamed it on the button. I tried that eGo and LOVED it~! I DID become a collector....some of you have seen my juice list~! It took about a week to determine I am sensitive to PG, and I do NOT like throat hit at all. I started ordering high VG liquids and stalking PIF for them. Some are fine and others seem to choke me just as bad as PG juices. The highest nic I can handle without coughing is 16~18. Vapor Renu is the smoothest vape I've found, I love the TONS of vapor VG puts out but there is not a lot of flavor, I know VG and muted flavor go hand in hand. I've gotten some vendor samples in 24mg and have attempted to vape them, but if I try to exhale I cough like crazy~! Exhale through my nose and I'm fine, but the nic burns~!

I was doing good. I was steadily improving, and I just don't know what happened to throw me off track. I'm not giving up, and I thank you all for not letting me give up~!
