A real (or original) DSE 901 atomizer has the atomizer sticking up higher, and has SLB and a serial # engraved on the bottom where it meets the battery.

The RN 4075 which is a 901 clone has the shorter atomizer and works like crap with 901 carts. When it does decide to wick it does produce more vapor, but it also floods too easy.

Stick with true 901 atomizers. I got mine at ruyan direct/heaven gifts, cheap too.

I don't know if you all are on the same page as me though
I'm talking about a true authentic NEW dse901 atomizer. The new dse901 comes with a mic switch. The new dse901 atomizer has the wick running higher than the old so you don't have to top off as much. I'm looking for a place that just sells the new atomizer

I'm not being condescending I'm just trying to make sure we are on the same page. If so, what places sell the atomizer separately so I can use it with my pressure switch battery since the parts are swappable.

These were released early 2009 I believe.

Having the wick higher won't mean you don't have to top off as much. It still uses the same cartridge. The only reason you may not have to top off as much is because it doesn't burn as hot as the 4075 so you might save a little juice there. Also, either the 901 atomizer or the 4075 will work on any battery, mic switch or not. The atomizer doesn't "know" which battery it's using. Here's a side by side of the 4075 on the left and a "real" 901 on the right. You can see the bridge is up a little higher on the 901 one. I got the one on the right from esmokershop and the one on the left from PS. They both use the same battery and both work pretty much the same. The true 901 has a slightly smoother throat hit since it doesn't burn as hot as the 4075. I know this for a fact since I connected both to my SD and without a cartridge you can see the coil glow red on the 4075 but it doesn't glow at all on the 901 but still produces plenty of vapor.

It does, There is the original 901, the RN4075 and the "New" 901. I don't know if anyone is already selling the "New" 901 but I saw a tester at Dietsmokes on a visit. It is very nice and they are planning on selling them. You can PM parked for an ETA on the "new" 901.

It's a nice vape BTW, I am interested in trying the atomizer on the mag mod and SD.

just read about a KR901 with an enclose atomizer,,,, said,'they didn't think it had been released yet",,,,couldn't find anything else on it

Enclosed atomizer?
Yet!?
bestecig atomizers appear to have the higher bridge. Their batteries are also the mic switch type - which are a totally unusable in a Miata with the top down, by the way

18 dollar shipping kills it. When I buy my next product I'll buy from there I suppose. The warranty is good at 6 months but I have to justify the shipping. God I love/hate playing with these things

This whole 901 business has me confused as of late. I have seen two versions of what people have claimed to be the new "901". One was almost identical to the old 901 in form and threads. The parts were interchangble with the DSE901/RN4075. Another one I saw was the KR901 (I believe the prefix was KR but could be mistaken) which looked almost identical to the M series e-cigs where the atomizer wick is exposed and the cart fit around it rather than inserted into it like the DSE901/RN4075. I personally got the impression that the KR901 was called that to try and capitalize on the name. I do not think they are made by the same factory. The more this whole 901 thing unfolds the more I get confused.

I believe the EM901 is the same as a DSE901/RN4075 and the prefix is just changed to EM to represent East Mall.

You might be right about that. I have my original 901 as a back up now that I have the SD. Once I get the Prodigy, I plan to not be buying anymore devices for a long time.

Same here. I use the Screwdriver, the Janty Stick (I'm real excited about this now that they announced adapters are coming for the 901 & 510) and have ordered the prodigy. I have plenty of atomizers so I think I'll be done for a while with buying devices. I think juggling those three will be more than enough to prolong the life of all of them.

The only hesitation I had about the prodigy is the switch design. You can argue it's ergonomics but the robustness of the side switch remains to be seen and I've killed enough switches to know it's an issue. People complain about the bottom button on the SD but unless dropped on the switch end it lasts push after push. In the end if there are any problems with the prodigy switch hopefully they will get resolved in first six months while there is a warranty.
