I've been using Twist batteries for a while and am almost certain that I want a Vamo for my first mod. I was wondering if the differences between the original version and the v3 are just aesthetic (to me, the clean lines of the first Vamo are much more attractive than the pattern on the v3.), or if there are also differences in performance/features.

The top section screws off the V3 to expose the ego threading, not so on V2. The screen is a little nicer on the V3 than on the V2, but not a game changer. The V3 only has NO2 mode, the V2 has both NO1 and NO2, but NO2 is what all Vamo users recommend to set their V2s on. The V3 middle battery section unscrews from the button/screen area, this part is glued in place on the V2 (makes sense to have all the parts threaded and not glued, but it hasn't became unglued on my V2). Pretty sure the 510 threading can be shabby on both, but it's a coin toss. I think that about covers it and I too am not a fan of the swirls on the V3.

You might also consider buying an Innokin SVD for $5 more than the V2 or V3, although I'm not sure about the NO1, NO2 settings on that device, or really what those settings do exactly (NO2, I think, makes your voltage/wattage more accurate, where NO1 is like an average, something like that anyways).

I like the V3, the swirls actually make it easier to hold onto. Performance wise, I like it also, if you use a Pro-Tank, use the Cosmetic Cone on the EGO threads to support the base. I also have SIDs, also good mods, but my VAMO is edging them out a little. The best part, not having to wait for the Ctwists to charge. (Just make sure you buy twice as many batteries as you have Mods!)

Wow, very quick and helpful responses so far.

Bill Oso: I get your points about threading throughout rather than glued segments and about the v3 only having NO2 mode. I had the SVD in mind as a second choice...which aspects of it make it a stronger recommendation than the v3?

Rob S.: Yeah, the 2.5 seems like it could be a nice compromise.

Mike Sheda:I've seen/read reviews mentioning the fact that the pattern gives the v3 a more secure grip, but it does look a little busy to me. I like the way a Protank and Twist work together, so I expect to enjoy the Protanks even more on a Vamo (or other mod if this thread convinces me). It's reassuring to read that you prefer the v3 to other mods you own. I'll still get plenty of use out of the Twists, even with the charge time.

Hi

You may want to check the Vamo sub-forum to see what problems &/or tips owners are posting. I highly recommend you pay the little extra and get the stainless steel finish. I have a black chrome and the finish wore off where I hold it very quickly. Other members have posted that the regular chrome isn't much better. Have fun with your new mod!

I do not own a SVD (yet?) so I am not entirely sure about it. I was considering buying the SVD in addition to my Vamo V2 as a back up but went with a Vamo V3 because: 1) People say the SVD is built more sturdy than the Vamos but others say the telescoping tube wiggles slightly when tightened due to the larger threading on the production model than on the beta version. 2) Some people reported that even when using the same batteries in both devices (Vamo vs SVD), the batteries only last 1/2 to 1/3 as long in the SVD compared to the Vamo. 3) I own the Vamo V2 and it has been good to me. Inexpensive and has lasted 40 some days so far. 4) I am unsure if the SVD is set in NO2 mode, which I like, even if I'm not entirely sure what it does exactly.

The SVD is RMS only which is what NO2 is on the Vamo. I don't know why the Vamo just couldn't say RMS.

I find the Vamo to be made as cheaply as it's sold for. I had a Stainless Steel one and it felt like I could crush the tube in my hand. The Vamo V2 is not glued together, it is press fit. And sometimes, it is press fit together crooked. That's why I got rid of mine. The 510 connector was crooked so every atty sat crooked on it.

The SVD feels more solid and is heavier then the Vamo. It just feels like a quality device. The screen isn't the best, but all I really need to see are numbers. I don't need a high def screen for that.

Another mod to consider is the Sigelei ZMAX. It is more expensive then the other two, but it has the better build quality of the SVD with the nicer screen of the Vamo. This is my go to mod out of the two. I have a KSD on the way, so I can let you know how that is when I get it.

I just picked up a Vamo V3 and my threads are great and the "ribbing" is not near as bad in person as it looks in the pictures. I love it. I have used an svd and the bulging telescoping end piece is just not for me at all. Its a great device just not my style. If the ribbing is really a big set back for you look into a Jwrap for 13.50 you can wrap it in style and the ribbing goes away. I find the build quality on my vamo v3 equal to the build quality of a friends SVD. Yes the SVD is 1 oz heavier than 5.71 vs the vamo 4.66oz it is also .1 inches fatter and .4 inches shorter. I looked at both extensively and couldnt be happier with my vamo.
