If you don't Mind a bit of a wait, depending on Which shipping option you choose, fasttech has best prices.

Looks like I'll be using them, their prices are so nice! I may be ordering the Dark Horse RDA with the Buster clone, does anyone have any experience with either? I am still looking in to all RDA and mod suggestions. Thanks

Go with an iStick 50w man, 50 watts of power, USB recharging, very long battery life, and it is like 50 bucks. You could get a cheap dripper of FT and a tank and you would be set with the best of both worlds.

The istick 50w looks so good as well lol. Can you specificy exactly which tank for a low price would be fine for someone like me?

My suggestion,,, use your buddy's gear for a bit longer. Get some wire and an ohm meter to start building coils. Not hard but practice is good. Save your pennies and do a lot of research. YouTube is a great place to get the scoop on most any mod, atomizer and even battery safety and coil building. I know it will be hard to wait but in the meantime you will be able to build up a juice supply which is an ongoing expense.

For the record, I started with a 15 watt Sigelei and some tanks before researching to get to where I am with bottom feed mods. Could have saved a bundle of cash if I had only done my homework.

I'd pick up a subtank mini and an istick 50w if I were you.

The subtank mini is 22mm in diameter so don't be put off by the name. It comes with a couple of coil heads and an rba base to practice on. The istick 50w will last you all day and has usb charging with a built in ohm meter. Practice with that and pick up a mech/dripper after you have your bearings.

You can acquire those two, cotton, and a spool of 26g for under 100 bones and have a solid/safe setup.

As had been said but worth repeating it's a personal preference.

I've collected a few mods and my suggestion for a startup kit - is get a regulated mod that goes up to 30 watts with a 510 connector, I love my IPV mini - 5 to 30 watts has PWM and DC-DC, with PWM you set it and leave it alone if you want DC it's there also. I have a special need sometimes to use the 5 to 5.5 watt setting it's good to have. I picked it up for $39.95 also my goto tanks are three fogger 5's and a mini fogger - all top fill tanks. fogger 5 around $25.00 or less

I'd pick up a subtank mini and an istick 50w if I were you.

I'm thinking this is what I will end up buying, I love the look of the istick and the subtank. Plus my brother has a bunch of cotton so that should save me a bit lol

I have quite a few mods and build my own coils, I tried a mech mod and figured out they werent for me. I currenty use a istick 50w and a subtank mini as well as a Sigelei 50w VR2 and a Kayfun V4 tobeco clone, either of these set-ups were around $85 but you would need a few good 18650 batteries and a quality charger for the Sig. Both have been fantasic for me so far.

For building supplies I buy all of my Kanthal in 100' rolls directly from Temco page on ebay for $8 and my rayon cotton from Sallys beauty supply, it was $18 for 3lbs which is literally a lifetime supply. I also use finger nail clippers, cheap pair of cuticle scissors and a Stanley brand set of precision screw drivers from wallyworld for $5. I have everything I need other than juice to vape indefinately!

Bad news: Mech mods and noobs do not mix well.

Good news: The new high-wattage regulated boxes are taking the place of mech mods.

Advice: Up your budget a bit and take a hard look at the sigelei 100w plus box. You should be able to find it under $80. It'll be an awesome device that will make it easier and safer to rip clouds. If 50w will do you I can personally vouch for the sigelei 50w v2 which I've seen as low as $55. To be honest, some of these cheap mechanical clones are pretty crappy anyway.

Sigelei 100W (PLUS) Box Mod - Eciggity
    Sigelei 50W v2 Box Mod - Eciggity

Advice: I always shop ebay for RDAs. My favorite brand is EHPro and I avoid Tobeco at all costs. I prefer flavor over clouds and my favorite is the EHPro Veritas which can be had for $20.

Advice: Start with 26g wire. I buy from Temco via ebay. Organic cotton from drugstore at $4.

Can anyone chime in on what batteries and charger would be best these days?

OK awesome this is what I like to hear. So I will purchase the Sigelei 100W plus later on today and pair it with the Subtank Mini or the Aspire Atlantis. Is that all I should need for now besides the cotton and the wiring? We have extra organic Japanese cotton and all the wiring here at the house

Personally, for what you are looking to spend and get I'm gonna back up what some others have already posted. Kanger Subtank Mini with an iStick 50 watt. The iStick is very portable (fits lightly inside a shirt pocket), goes up to 50 watts for sub-ohming, has 4400 mah battery (mine stays charged for 4 days!), can change wattage in . increments for detail and has a good reputation everywhere. Price can be found for just under 50 bucks if you shop around. The Kanger Subtank uses pre-built coils that will handle up to 30 watts but has an RBA for building. And the flavor is as close to a dripper as I've ever gotten out of a tank. I got this combo for $86 from vapenw.com.

To the original poster I'm not quite sure if you fully understand what these guys are telling you. You MUST understand what you are doing if you take the Mech mod route (which appears to be what your buddy has) you absolutely need an OHM meter (and knowledge) to ensure you won't blow your battery up in your face. I can't believe your buddy is building coils without an OHM meter, not as in wow that's awesome can't believe it. But wow that's incredibly stupid. The Regulated mods these guys are recommending are perfect because they have built in safety features that would prevent you from accidently creating something dangerous. With a little bit of knowledge you can use one of these regulated mods and blow bigger clouds than your buddy, which is what I think your after anyway. I apologize if any of that was offending to you, but the buddy not having an OHM meter bit probably put some bad pictures in more people's heads than just my own. Good luck my friend.

P.S. All it takes is for you to not wrap that coil enough times or use the wrong gauge wire in conjuction and that Mech mod can start a fire or blow up. It's that easy.

I think it is worth it to save for the Sigelei 100w Plus box.

Definitely. Careful, though, the button likes to stick every now and again.

If you're going to get a Dark Horse, get the one made by Tobeco. I believe eciggity.com has it. I bought a dark horse from vividsmoke and it refused to capture my leads.

I agree that starting with a mechanical mod is not the best way. For your budget, why not buy a Kanger Kbox (about $26 online), an Aspire Atlantis or Kanger Subtank Mini ($30), and two new batteries ($15)? This will get you out the door for less than $70 with a setup that is easy to use, SAFE, and allow a lot of flexibility in power and use. Then once you have an idea of what direction you really want to go, you can take that other $30 plus any more savings to head in a direction you want.

A lot of people are recommending the iStick and the Subtank and another person recommended the Sigelei 100w Plus with the Subtank Mini or the Aspire Atlantis. Now it is down to these two for me. Thank you guys so much I appreciate it!!! Mechanical is out of the question for me now and if there are any more suggestions feel free to throw them my way :)

Either box will work very well, very different in size. The subtank is very large and most would skip. Between the Subtank Mini and Atlantis, there are hundreds of posts debating the subject, both are good and you will not go wrong with either. Bottom line, pick the battery box that you like best (the istick will eliminate the need to purchase other batteries and is much smaller) and the tank you like better.

No offense taken buddy. I am not going with a mechanical mod. I will get a tank. Either the Sigelei 100w Plus or the iStick 50 and pair with the kanger subtank or if the aspire atlantis would work?

Not much left to suggest as far as the mods go. They are both incredibly dependable and do as advertised. And they will both run the tanks your looking at perfectly. The Sigelei has more but unneeded power, and it looks better. But it's more expensive and is also quite a bit bigger. The istick is smaller, cheaper, and perfectly adequate for the tanks your looking at.

As for the tanks the subtank mini comes with (I think) 3 options for coils. One sub ohm coil, one 1.x? Ohm coil, and then one that is rebuildable to allow more versatility in your vape experience.

The Atlantis is also a sub ohm tank, and even though not advertised or intentional for user, the coils are able to be rebuilt.

They are both considered lung hitters essentially meaning big airflow big vapor production, BIG clouds. Also with great flavor.

They are both reliable and great tanks (I'm actually on the fence between the two myself) just look at cost, and aesthetics since your new to Vaping you have nothing of your own to compare you will be thrilled with both. Make sure you Google Image search the steel tank replacements for the Atlantis. I think they look totally badass and they add durability as well as eye candy to the package.
