Looking to get my Dad E-Cig for Fathers Day.. need some help

Hello All,

im a new member here, recently i have been hearing alot about E-Cigarettes and my dad has been interested in them himself.

heres a little backround on him, hes 53 years old, has been smoking a large portion of his life, he smokes atleast a pack a day of Camel Straights without the filter, he has been smoking these since i was born (im 23) he says he tried to cut back but it is just too hard.

lately he has gotten some virus but he continues to smoke, and it really makes it worse, he mentioned these e cigarettes to me and it sounded like a good idea to perhaps ween him off the camels to the e cig to then finally lowering the dose of nicotine to get him off cigs for good.

so im looking for a e cig for him, it doesnt have to be anything fancy, but its need to do the job, it also doesnt need to be the cheapest thing that might have problems, but a proven one that does the job.

now i have some questions, i see many places that sell ecigs and cartridges, then i see eliquid.. whats the difference? does the eliquid allow you to Refill cartridges instead of buying new cartridges over and over?

any insight or help would be apprecaited.

thanks again all.

thanks alot everyone, i have been reading about the Blu cig, seems real nice, small and gets the job done.

one thing i DO know is that my dad smokes camel straights WITHOUT filters as my above post, so you know hes getting a HUGE throat hit from those lol.

from some videos reviews on youtube the janty looks like it throws off alot of vapor

oh im from the USA so from what i understand the us customs is blocking shipments of e cigs from overseas, so the screwdriver is out for me.
Itb, if your on the left coast, Monique at widowsbeadwork.com has a DS901 model that would be a great starter for him. She also has some extra high strength juice that's mighty tasty.Great prices, fast shipping and fantastic service!!!

I am going to repeat a post I just made in another thread giving advice to a new user. Hope you find it helpful....

Something to consider. All ecigs that "look like" a regular cigarette (we call them analogs) all suffer from the same issue, namely battery life. The biggest favor you can do it realize that if you can get past the need for your ecig to resemble an analog than you will likely find a model that gives you a much more satisfying experience.

That being said, if you do decide to fo with an analog "look alike" you need to have several extra batteries to go with your selected device. Most ecigs come with 2 batteries. you will find that an additional 2-3 batteries is just what the doctor ordered.

As long as you are going to be ordering extra supplies, you should also get and additional 3-4 atomizers. Along with the battery, this is the key component of an ecig. It is not a matter of IF an atomizer will die, but WHEN it will die. Most kits come with only one atomizer (some come with 2). If your atomizer dies, you are out of business and back on analogs quicker than Dumbwaldo can complain.......

At a minimum you should alway have 3 working atomizers ready to go. Most people feel more comfortable having 5-6 in reserve.

Also, almost every site will claim that a one cartride = 1 pack of cigarette. This is almost universally 100% NOT TRUE. Most carts are the equivalent of 3-4 analogs. Buying pre filled cart is a much more expensive proposition. You will find that you are better off purchasing eliquid (or juice) and refilling your existing carts. Most starter kits come with only 5 carts. You would be well served to have an addtional 15-20 empty carts on hand. The can be purchased very cheaply for most models. While the carts can be refilled, you will find that over time and after several refills that the wicking material in the carts will begin to degrade. you can either replace the material or just toss the cart and get out some more blanks.

Here are some threads that I highly suggest you take the time to read and view the associated videos. A couple of hours spent here will result in a PhD in basic vaping knowledge

thanks for all the helpful replies!!

im sure the look of a cig doesnt matter, if it does i will just get him a home one, and then portable Blu or something.

the janty does look real promising, along with the blu

but is the janty a powerful device? it looks like it in the videos i see.

the blu i read from the reviews is powerful itself and surprises many.

also im located in wisconsin.

so encil you recommend the screwdriver?? anyway i can get one from a US shipper?

about the cartridges and refilling.

so i can take the cartridges that come with the cig itself and refill it with 24-26mg nicotine flavors?

im sure he wont want any fruity stuff, just tabacco flavored, does that camel flavor really reseamble camel?

i been reading like 9 pages worth of the blu lol, but that seems best as a portable, but alot of people like it..

what are the more wellknown strong ecigs?? i take it the screwdriver, janty??

thanks everyone!

Being a Dad myself, if you want him to make the transition to PV's (personal vaporizers), follow the advice to get him a manual PV with a larger battery like the Screwdriver, Prodigy or LV/Zi Moshi. 7-8 hours of battery life instead of 2-3 hours with the smaller PV's. Batteries that cost $2 instead of $20 to replace. No worry about gumming up the battery compartment with juice like the auto switch types. Consistent throat hit more like a real cigarette. And definitely get him some juice to refill the carts which tastes better and is way more economical. Here are some links:

I have no opinion...does anybody else? I still think for a hardcore filterless analog smoker..the Prodigy,Zimoshi,GG,Screwdriver or The Janty are the best. You could definently start him out like all of us did and buy them all:D Seriously, for like $800.00 you could buy all these ,juice, carts and batteries then after he finds one he likes...sell them on the classified section. With this Allstar vaporizer lineup...you might make money on the deal;)

The Janty Stick. It is what i got my Mom and in 10 days she has had zero issues with it and she has been off analogs for 5 days. Its battery life is good, its easier to hold than a regular e-cig. My mom was a 35 year 2 pack a day smoker. Its my best recommendation for a longterm smoker who isn't a gadget geek.
ORLY????

Janty started shipping Janty Sticks 6 days ago. Prior to that the only sticks in the USA were review sticks. I do not recall seeing your review.

Exaggerate much? Or do you just get confused counting to 6 and accidentally jump to 10?

Good post but I think you forgot to include some things. For starters, using a PCC with those small battery, cigarette looking e-cigs tends to offer more than enough battery power for any e-smoker to get through a day. I also think you should revise that comment regarding carts lasting 3 or 4 analogs. The duration of the carts vary by a wide margin. A 4081 cart will be dead in as little as 2 'analogs' but a pen style cart might last as long as 10 or 15 'analogs'.

Hope I complained quick enough for you. :D

I don't know that I necessarily agree with the statement that the PCC (portable charging case) is enough to get "any" e-smoker through a day. So much of it depends on HOW you vape. For me, I'm a heavy vapor, and I tend to ride the button a bit, taking long draws. Not surprisingly, I don't get near the battery life that some folks get. I drain my batteries faster than I can recharge them.

But if you are an AVERAGE e-smoker/vapor, I think a PCC will probably get you through just fine.

And a note about the Screwdriver--customs hasn't held any Screwdrivers coming into the country that I've heard about. Mine arrived just fine. For the most part, it's large, commercial shipments that are problematic. And frankly, the Screwdriver simply doesn't look like an e-cigarette, so I doubt it causes any notice at customs.

I agree with Waldo about the PCC. I ordered a 510 for my wife that is en route and I definitely got a PCC with it. For those that have one, I am curious if it really does charge a battery 4-5 times before needing a recharge itself.........comments?

When writing a post to a new user there is so much that can be discussed that your are almost always not going to cover all pertinent areas............

I get 3 recharges from my PCC. That being said, the PCC is a great device and a must have IMHO.
