I have been vaping for 4 years now, I think its time to get a mech mod. I really like the panzer and am looking to buy it at 88evape.com. Here's a list of what im gonna order, am I missing anything important?

Mech mod: https://88evape.com/shop/mechanical-mods/panzer-clone-stainless-steel/

RDA: https://88evape.com/shop/rebuildabl...-atomizer/?attribute_pa_color=stainless-steel

RBA: https://88evape.com/shop/rebuildable-atomizers-tanks/kraken-atomizer/

Ohm meter: (still shopping around)

Wire: (still shopping around)

Wick: (still shopping around)

Batteries: (no idea what to get)

With what I got so far, are they good to start with?

I would personally do a lot of reading on battery safety and the correct batteries to get. AW batteries are always a safe choice but with no protections on the mod and no education, it can be a bad idea, maybe more-so with the mech clones.

I have been here long enough to see even veterans to vaping buying their first mech mods and having issues with hot buttons and hot tubes on new batteries/mods.

For a mech mod the panzer isnt bad, a lot of choosing a mech mod, as far as I can tell anyway, is going to be about the aesthetics.
As for an RDA, I've got a patriot clone & trident clone, I would not recommend the patriot to anyone. The static air holes are a real downside. I've tried a few and would recommend the stillare over any other dripper I've tried. As for the RBA, I dont have one myself but Ive tried the kayfun 3.1 and it's pretty awesome.
As for wire and wick, that really boils down to personal choice. I like 30g kanthalA1. I've tried the flat ribbon wire and not super pleased with it. As for wicking I recommend cotton balls, just make sure they are 100% organic unbleached.
As for batteries really like the Sony VTC5 it's 2600mAh and maxes at 30amp. Great for sub ohm builds.
Hope this helps.

What is the difference with using different gauges? does a larger gauge provide something more then a smaller gauge?

smaller gauge, i.e. 30G will heat up relatively quickly but in my experience its dificult to work with because of how thin it is, and if you want clouds its not gonna do you very well. larger gauge, I.e. 20-24G is going to give you a lot hotter vape, more flavor (to me) and throw clouds if you want that. Also makes sub-ohming really easy. its all in personal preferance, just have to use safety when using a mech with low ohms.

more and less resistance mainly but I personally think that the thicker (lower number) is easier to work with. It was explained to me the best as, think of water moving through a hose or a straw......the smaller will provide more resistance than the thicker wire.

If you want an RBA/RDA suggestion, a Taifun GT (clone or real) is awesome; there are as many tweeks as with a Kayfun but I like it better. They have a "nano kit" for the Taifuns which is a dripper for another $40 (you just have to have the Taifun GT already) but you could have both with one and both perform well.

Introduction to Vaping | God of Steam

This is a great place to answer any questions/concerns you have over anything vaping, check out the articles and click and read the links, they do a great job of breaking down things like batteries and safety in an easy to understand way.

Ohm's Law Calculator
This is a good place to get your ohms law calculations for when it comes time to start building.

As far as your order, I think you have a great start. As was already mentioned, the choice of which mech is largely what appeals to you, they are all essentially battery tubes.

I'd recommend the smoktec omnimeter for your ohm meter because it also tests voltage and you can plug both your atty and mech in at the same time to read voltage drop.

Wire, I'd suggest picking up a couple different gauges of Kanthal and playing around with builds. I picked up 28,30,and 32 my first time 'round, off amazon. got 100 feet in each spool at about 5 or 6 dollars a piece, I won't be having to buy anymore for a long long time (although I do want to try some 24 and 26). I find myself going to 28 gauge most often, 32 is so tiny I find I need to twist it to build what I want, 28 is good to go more often than not.

Wick, I'd suggest going to your local drug store and looking for the Maxim Hygiene Organic Cotton Balls. This is a popular choice among vapers because it is organic and doesn't have bleach or detergents/dyes in it, and it doesn't need to be boiled before use. Cotton is also very easy to work, it wicks well and holds tremendous flavor. Just pay attention to the fact it will burn in the coil if it is not wicked, so if you are dripping with it check it every now and then and re-apply juice as needed. A quick note on the burning, it really becomes a non-factor, as you will notice a dryer hit well before it gets dry to the point of burning.

Batteries are something you need to pay special attention to and not cheap out on. A common recommendation here on ECF is avoid anything with "fire" in its name, ie. trustfire batteries and other brands as such. When building a mech you want to leave a decent buffer between the power you are drawing from the battery (in amps) and the batteries max amp output. A lot of vapers choose high amp output batteries because it makes this easier and gives larger safety buffers. I did a lot of reading up and looking at battery tests before I made my decisions and this is where I decided to go for 18650, 18500 and 18350:
I use sony VTC5's for my 18650 batteries because of the 30 amp limit and they test extremely well, I can build super low ohm coils if I want and not have to worry much.
I use the Purple Efest 18500 batteries because they test extremely well, in some variances even better then the popular front running AW batteries. The purple batteries have a higher amp limit (15a) and thus allow for lower ohm builds with a larger safety buffer.
I use the Purple Efest 18350 batteries for the same reasons as mentioned above for their bigger 18500 siblings. The 18350 amp limit is 10.5, I can safely (rule of thumb is a 30% buffer between draw and max output) build a .6 Ohm coil and use it on a mech in 18350 with these and have a buffer over 30%, which is impressive if you ask me. One could go even lower if they wanted to push envelops, but I enjoy my mech and my hands/face.

Don't forget a few basic tools to help with your build, tweezers for adjusting and tightening coils, clippers (or snippers or scissors) a few small drill bits to wrap coils around (or you can get a coil jig like KK Vapetec's), some small screwdrivers for - and + posts of your RDAs and fill port/ air flow screws on your tank, paper towels or microfiber clothes for cleaning up juice messes systems, a torch if you prefer to treat your coil before putting in on the RDA (I just heat with my mod and tweeze from there, I find it easier). Another member mentioned two things I hadn't though of before that would likely make things a lot easier when building, a good sized area of white rug/carpet to work over and easily see dropped bits such as coils, screws, etc, as well as magnifying eyewear so you aren't straining your eyes in your build.

I'm very excited for you! Let us know how it all goes.

One last thing! There are a great many online vendors for vaping supplies and hardware, but I have yet to find a place that offers everything I need at the best price available, if you want the best prices for whatever you are buying be prepared to order from multiple sites. Its worth it in my opinion (not only for you, but its good for the community as well, spread the wealth!)

Best of luck!

So i just went to my local shop cus I had a crap ton of questions and wanted to see in person what I was getting first time around. I picked up a King clone by Hcigar and Stillare RDA. Also got some 24 gauge kanthal wire, and a few pre-buit ones to compare my work to. Using my AW 16850 battery.

I was told to stick to 6mg or less as it "works better"? I normally vape 24mg.

Put my first coils in...took a deep breath and let her rip to see if it burned even like I have seen on youtube vids. Looked very even on both coils. Proceeded to fill it with 0mg 100% VG, that produced a larger cloud them my Lavatube...loving it. Needed some nic so I added about 10 drops of my 24mg 50/50 juice and its pretty weak on vapor production.

Still need to get an ohm meter ordered tonight and probably some more batteries. Where can I find some 100%VG 6-8mg juice thats a decent price?

I'd recommend sony vtc4 or 5.
30A is way better than AWs 10A. It gives you a safe margin to play with + they're great batterys overall.

Also another tip don't build anything yet if you don't got an ohm reader. you might be pushing your batteries more than they can handle.
Yaeliq sells 100vg juice and custom nick levels. :)
