Been messing with these disposable blu's and I like their convenicence. Kinda costly but still less than my cigarettes.
I came across this guide and thought the idea sounds good. No fuss, easy to use. I suppose the only thing I'm balking at is the cost. I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on his setup. Any modifications you'd make or something else you'd suggest.

I would personally recommend a simple VV (variable voltage) battery such as the ego twist or the vision spinner and a clearo type tank

clearo type tanks would be the "stardust" style which is most commonly the ce4 - holds about 1.4 - 1.6 ml of eliquid, and is a top coil device, the mini vivi nova, which will hold 1.6 - 2 ml of eliquid and is also a top coil, or the mini protank which holds 1.2-1.4 ml and is a bottom coil - the ce4 and vivi nova have polycarbonate tanks which are susceptible to some flavors causing damage and leaking (cinnamon, citrus and cola flavors - most eliquid vendors will have a separate page that lists if it is problem or not) the mini protank has a glass tank so will not have an issue with any eliquid but is a little fragile if dropped on a hard surface.

carto tanks tend to be difficult and messy to refill, most rely on just o-rings to hold everything in place, are more sensitive to eliquid pg/vg ratio (high vg will not wick through the tiny holes very well) some take very specific cartomizers which are not always easy to locate and can be expensive)

but anyway that is my personal opinion and recommendations

I'm real new around here, but I'll echo Dakota Jim's comments. This is the kit bought when I was switching over from a standard e-cig slim battery...actually it just came in today, and I couldn't be happier.

Spinner/Twist Ego VV Tank Combo

Pick up a few replacement heads and you'll be set. The batteries are rockstars compared to my last setup and the clearo vapes like a dream. IMHO it's a great step for those who don't want to commit to the world of modding but are looking for something more serious.

Here's what I did and am pleased I did in this manner. Like you I tried a cheap e-cig at first just to check them out and see if I thought there was any potential to help me get off cigs. The first one I tried was okay so I researched the heck out of this forum. I found the REO mods and bought a REO Grand. So glad I did. It is not cheap but if I worked my way up to this mod (buying a little better this - a little better that) I would have wasted tons of cash. I say jump in and do it right! :2c:

I found a local store that had Ego twists and iclear16 tanks. It seems to be a pretty good fit. another clearomizer I tried called puff gave me a real harsh smoke. I didn't much care for it. This seems to do the trick just fine.

Any downsides to this setup? It seems pretty good. I'm not sure what benefit a higher grade battery or atomizer would give me.

I use the SID battery, it's variable voltage and wattage. I like vaping on wattage. I use with it the Protank 2 which for me is easy to fill and use. I've tried several things and I like the protank the best. Way better than blucigs! I really liked blucigs cherry, so you might struggle finding a juice you like

you might struggle finding a juice you like

there are hundreds of juice vendors that folks mention in here..

I want to try Virgin Vapor: Organically Flavored E-liquid | Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes

Ive already tried

https://vapeland.org/ AiV has a cherry-tea flavor thats kinda nice

Welcome to Ahlusion tried a blueberry-vanilla cake from there, its very nice...more stuff coming from them

http://www.nicoticket.com/eliquid/ ordered a couple of times from here, tried oh lets see....5 different flavors from them, I think Betelgeuse is my favorite, but also Custards Last Stand. Got a big bottle of Gravity a couple of days ago so Ive vaped a few tanks of that...Its good.

Folks also mention: Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor

Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids

Welcome to Copper Creek - Online Store

there are probably some juices/flavors that will satisfy a person in all those sites.

oh just for laughs - did some searching:

Cherry Bomb (Purity) - $6.00 : Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids

http://www.ahlusion.us/e-liquids/fruit/contrary-cherry-detail.html

ahlusion's juice I got I really enjoyed so I did order some more from them, if you spend $20 or more you can ask for a sample of their stuff (read the FAQ to see what they give out for samples, you have to request it specifically).

My wife was on the disposable Blu for quite awhile. I got her the Kanger Evod and she loves it. She's really bad at keeping up with this stuff/maintenance, but that set up has been good for her. It's the best entry level set-up that I have tried and totally recommend it to everyone.

It vapes nice and the swap out atomizer is a great convenience that's for sure. It comes in a double pack with extra atomizers for around 60-70$.
