Hello everybody. I'm new to these forums and vaping in general. I've been using an electronic cigarette for the past two weeks. Specifically the blucig premium starter kit. I've been enjoying this kit a lot. I haven't given up analog cigs completely, but this product has helped me immensely! I've been a pack a day smoker for the past 14 years. I bought the blucig kit out of curiosity. I had no real agenda with it. I thought that maybe I could use it to cut back a little and save some money. But after two weeks with it, I'm sold. I'm currently down to 2-3 analogs a day, which is definitely progress. But I'm looking for something better.

I'm interested in keeping the blucig kit for when I'm at work or out and about, but I'd like something better for when I'm sitting around at home watching tv, or on the computer. I've done a little bit of research on the internet, and on youtube, but I'm still very confused as to where I should even start. I'd like to avoid trying 9 different things and spending $400 to find something that I like.

With your peoples help maybe I can avoid making newbie mistakes, and buy something of quality that works the first time. I think I'm interested in a tank system, or possibly something that I can just drip onto. I'm not sure if you can do both with these contraptions. (bear with me, I'm new).

Considering I'm planning to buy my new equipment for home use specifically, I would really not mind dripping. But a tank system also intrigues me if I can find one of good quality that works well, and doesn't leak.

So to all of you experienced people out there that have been though 10 different setups, could you recommend something for me? I'm looking for something well built. Price really isn't a factor as long as it's worth the money. I'd really hate to blow $100 on something only to find out that it falls apart or doesn't operate properly after 6 weeks.

Like I said before I'm open to tank or drip systems. But I'm also very under educated in how you buy these things. Do they come as complete kits, or do you buy all the pieces separately? I hear about people using mods all the time. But being so new to this, I really don't know how to properly mod anything. Is there a setup that just works great straight out of the box without mods?

Please help me save some money by minimizing the trial and error process. I just want to get something that I'm satisfied with without a lot of screwing around. Thanks everybody

When people talk about mods, they are not things that they have had to mod, but just a category of advanced PVs, I think the name comes from it being a mod of the basic designs.

A whole lot of people are about to tell you to just buy a Provari. From all accounts they are worth it. I can't say personally, sonce I still haven't been able to make myself spend that much. :)

I have a mod from Notcigs and I absolutely love it. You don't have the fancy digital bells and whistles of a Provari, but it is a good, solid, American build mod. All you have to do is buy batteries and a charger and you are set. I have the infinity pro, but they are not making these any more. The Buzz Pro is the same thing, just a different shape. I hoghly recommend them.

As far as what to put on it, if you want to drip you just need a good atty and a drip shield. Someone else may be able to recommend one, I don't have any. For a carto tank I have been looking at IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us!. They are very popular but I haven't tried them yet.

Whatever you think you are leaning toward, ask about the specific unit and we can advise exactly what options you may want for it, and make sure you get all the supplies that you need. :)

I think the ego twist is a great starting point for someone, it has a capability of change voltage by a twist of the bottom piece. It has a variable voltage setting from 3.2-4.8volts. I use one when I running around town and I can't carry my others. You can buy carto tanks together or by it piece by piece which would be tank and a 510 cartomizer. I use tanks and 510 XXL cartomizer with both my set ups.

I certainly haven't tried everything out there but I've done a ton of research trying to find the best set-up for me. I think it's awfully hard to beat an ego twist and vivi mini nova tank with the 1.8ohm head. I have tried Kanger t2's - which are very nice, too . . but the heads don't last as long for me and they seem to clog faster than the Vivi Nova.

For dripping I just use Joye 510 LR atty's. They cost as little as $5 - last a good 2-3 weeks and provide a great vape. They do leak - or, rather, seep. This is worse until you learn how not to flood them - which varies a little depending on voltage and juice. . but they still leak. I keep a paper towel handy when I'm dripping - it's not too big a problem.

I did extensive research and I can't see a reason to go to a big battery, 5v mod unless you can't live with 6-8 hours battery life on the ego twists OR your great uncle died and left you hundreds of 3ohm carts or something. I have 3 twists in rotation - 2 650mahs and a 1000mah so there is always one ready to go. If they die in 6 months I'll just replace them. I can buy at least 5 twists for the price of 1 ProVari.

If money is not a factor I would suggest a ProVari at ProVape.com. You;ll spend upwards of about $300.00 or more by the time you by the unit, batteries, charger, atomizers (for dripping), cartomizers (to use in a tank), a tank or two, a few drip tips, juice etc. It's very well worth the money. And you won't be throwing money after money trying to find a nice set up. The ProVari is a big mod especially if you are switching from a cig a like size like the Blu. But you get used to it. Check it out at ProVape.com. You won't regret it. Their are other high end mods that you could get but the ProVari is really a great mod. With a tank on it, it's a no hassle vape. You have the ability to adjust voltage and use just about any cart or atomizer you want on it. I use pre-punched XL cartomizers with a DCT carto tank. I'm many others will give you other ideas and suggestions as well.
The Buzz Pro at NotCigs.com is another great variable voltage device. You can drip or use a tank on it as well. A lot less expensive than the ProVari. But is has considerably less bells and whistles on it. I love both of them and use both of them every day.
Please feel free to ask all the questions you want or need to ask. There are so many people here who are glad to help you work through the many options that are available.

what Tracey said, the best all around mod. Does everything and does it well. Tanks, atty's, genesis tanks, etc will all work well. And they stand behind their product, they just repaired one of mine out of warranty at no cost to me. Can't say enough good about the Provari, maybe that its a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

If tanks interest you, check out ibtanked, they have great products and prices and are great people. Get a glass or fused quartz tank and you wont have to worry about certain types of juices ruining it.

my 2 cents and good luck!

well if that is the case then a provari would be your best choice,,it has been around a lot longer then all these other units that are coming out of china, and the warranty CAN NOT be beat !! should you eve need it

i'd also say a darwin, but those are difficult to impossible to get your hands on,,and can be twice what a provari costs

juice delivery systems?? i point ya toward kanger carto or the kanger T3 or T2

Thanks for the replies everybody. The ProVari does look nice, but $300 sounds like a bit much for right now. I know I said that money was not a factor, but I've been watching reviews on the ego twist on youtube, and that thing looks awesome for a lot less money. I can't even find a bad review on it. I think the ego twist is what I'm gonna go for. But I'm still kind of lost in how to buy it. If I understand it right, the go twist is just the battery with the case, and the button assembly, correct? From there I have to choose a tank or cartomizer to attach to it. Is that correct? Is it possible that I could get a tank for this, but also be able to take it off and somehow set it up for dripping? I think I would like dripping while testing out new juices. I'd hate to fill up an entire tank only to find out that I hate the flavor.

Sorry for sounding like a ...... But this is all new to me. I know what I want my device to do, but I don't know what I need, how to buy it, or where to buy it.

If you find a good base unit straight away, then you'll spend less money in the long run. In my experience, most people go through a stage where they pick up an eGo battery unit, for various reasons such as size, cost, what have you. After that, they move on to their first mod, and some spend wads of cash in a big grab where they try everything they can think of. This doesn't sound like something you'd be interested in, and I'll hedge my bets that you don't want something overly complicated or priced, yet durable and widely compatible with popular accessories, because let's face it; everybody's looking for something better than what they have.

Given that, I would suggest a Smoktech Telescope kit.

But why?

Well, for starters it's a mechanical mod, so there are no circuits to fry. The kit will come with appropriate batteries (IMR 18650), and a charger. Some places may throw in some liquid of your choosing, and/or some clearos, cartos, or a tank even. Also, it's compatible with most eGo accessories, such as the wildly popular (around here at least ((and I have no idea why to be honest))) ce-4 clearomizer, tanks, jugs, cartos, attys (510, 306) and pretty much anything with a 510 connection.

Secondly, since you can replace the battery for $8-13 bucks, you don't have to toss the whole thing when it kicks the bucket.

And lastly, and because I'm tired of typing, when you don't want it anymore, you can sell it. You won't get full retail value obviously but I'll bet my boots you get a lot more for a used Telescope mod than you would any eGo battery.

I can go down the street about an hour and pick up a kit for $64 that has the Telescope, 2 batteries, a charger, a 10ml bottle of liquid and an atomizing device of my choosing.

It's not massive and it looks pretty slick. I use an Empire mod, which is pretty similar, but not as compatible as the Telescope, although I only drip so it's of no concern to me.

So for those reasons, I nominate it as a great starter mod.

ETA: Don't listen to people griping about it not being vented. It's a non-issue now.

I just started vaping today. A couple days ago I ordered this and a few bottle of liquid from MT Baker.
eCig Starter Kit - 900mah

The batteries that came with it are variable voltage.

55r128.jpg

3. Variable Voltage Function: Click the button 3 times within 2 seconds to change the output power of the battery. Light color will change according to different levels.

Then I ordered a sample juice pack from Alice In Vapeland so I figured I would use an atty and drip to sample them so I ordered a couple of these.
510 Bridgeless Atomizer - 2.0 ohm

and a couple 510 drip tips
Drip Tips - DiscountVapers.com

I've only been vaping a day and have my eye on a Provari but I'm not ready to drop that much cash just yet. BTW, I only smoked 6 analogs today compared to my normal 2 1/2 - 3 packs.

Yes that would be a good thing to do. Your choices are everything that is ego threaded or 510 threaded. I would and do exactly what you are asking about. You should always drip a new juice before you fill a tank IMHO.

jeesh,,they dont cost no dam 300 bucks,,new is 159$,blemished is 140$..couple batts and charger another 25 bucks if you look somewhere other then provape
Yeah, but if you add a color, add a blue led, add a batt extender, etc. you can quickly approach $300. I had a setup in the cart at one time that was $282. And sure, you don't HAVE to get a color or a blue led or a lot of other options, but if I'm gonna spend that kind of $$$ on something I'm gonna have for that long, by God that's what I WANT. :)

ETA: But then again, the fact that you are gonna have it for that long goes to justifying the cost.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest the Joye Tech Evic with a Vision Vivi Nova Tank. If the Evic is too costly then get and eGo twist. And if you're happy with the Blu's keep using them on the job.

If you want a drip system get a Phoenix RBA and buy extra pre wound wicks. Invest in a cheap pair of reading glasses from Rite Aid.

I don't know if the Phoenix works on a twist though. It doesn't seem to work on my other eGo's. Ask somebody about that before you buy one.
