I just went through similar loose battery situation last weekend with new Ehpro Route 66. Regardless of atty and battery, when adjusted properly there was about 1/16" battery rattle. My solution was to shave (file & sand) a few thousandths material off the tube ends and top surface. Repeated this a few times until battery just snugged up, then touched up edges to remove the sharpness. Taking all off one end of tube risked getting into threads and increased chances of losing square mating surface.
