I just got a hcigar Nemesis a few days ago and I'm really liking it.

I kind of got away from the mech mods a couple years back, but am now just starting to research them a bit more (y'know, due to the looming Vape-pocalypse and all).

I found (with the hcigar clone at least) that I needed a much stiffer spring (which I happened to have) to stop the auto-firing when unlocked and standing up, but the new spring also makes the button a bit on the stiff side. Can the Nemy be stood up unlocked with the magnets from FT?

I also filed down the delrin on the button for a much shorter throw (using a nail file). Be very careful you don't take off too much! I really like a very short throw on my bottom firing tube mods, and this seemed to get rid of most of the "crunchy-ness" of the button. This is my only complaint about the HCigar clone...I wish the button was smoother, but for $10, I can't really complain. ;)

I'm now on the lookout for any more "cheap-but-quality" clones if any of you have any suggestions. I've read good things about the HCigar Stingray.

So, you are saying the magnets are definitely not strong enough for the mod to stand with a topper?? That sux cuz I just ordered a 10 pack from FT. :)

Never heard of the SMPL, looks interesting. I like how simple it is...not crazy about the hybrid style connection. My main topper is a Goliath and the center pin tends to screw itself up into the connector from time to time. Got a Kayfun V5 on order though, maybe that would be a more solid topper for the SMPL (?).

Nope wont stand up without the switch locked and not fire.
If you want one that will do that the Hcigar New Yorker is for you. However it does not have a switch lock but will hang dsideways with the base stuck to the side of a filing cabinet. Strong magnets.
Not enough room in the nemmy for very strong magnets.
But the nemmy is nicer to use with the FT magnets in there.

The SMPL types of mods are the ones most often involved in the explosions in the news when not used properly.
They have no top 510 center pin and the atty 510 connects directly to the top of the battery.

I tried the magnets, but went back to the spring. It is safer to never stand it upright. If you use Kayfuns (or similar), you can lay it down without locking. I usually use a washcloth to catch any drips, because they are always possible.

The best way of adapting for a weak pinky is to hold it with all fingers, and press the button with the pad at the base of your ring finger. I have established that habit, and it works fine.

I've been standing bottom fire mechs for years. As long as you know what you're doing, there shouldn't be any issues. IMO, if you can't stand the mech unlocked without firing, it's getting sold. :)

The old "Cali Claw". Yup, that's how I'm firing it now and it's working fine for me, I just prefer the pinky fire whenever possible. Thanks!

Most atties have a fairly solid, protruding 510 pin. A 2-second test pushing on it with your thumbnail is a good enough go/no-go gauge. All the white noise you read about dead shorts are eliminated with simple common sense.

The SMPL could stand upright with a 50 lb atty without firing. :)

With a recessed button though, which I don't hate...I just prefer a protruding button.

That being said, I think the best button I ever fired was the GP Paps and that had a recessed button. :)

I am well aware of the common sense part, been vaping for over 7 years. Like I said, my Goliath's center pin screws in and out and does so when installing/removing the atty quite often. That is why I said it probably wouldn't be a good topper for the SMPL. ;)

I also agree.

However there are better options than the SMPL.
Personally I hate the SMPL switch.
I like my Ables more than my SMPLs

As far as the Nemesis, the rice pin and super fine threads on the lock ring killed them for me.

I have lost rice pins twice, fabricated my own, but found both lost pins. Lock rings don't need to be unscrewed all the way.

I have had enough scares with standing nemmys getting hot, that I think most of mine would be safe, but I have trained myself to not take chances.
Well, it has a name. Seems to fit.

I have 3.
1 each Brass copper and SS.
Have magnets, hybrid adapters, 3Ds, all the trimmins.
Im intimately familiar with the Nemesis.

They live in a drawer.
There are better options.

Not for the money, and that is an essential for me. But we have had this discussion before.

Sure there are.
A king knurled v2 clone is a much better option.
Thicker walls, recessed switch, reverse locking ring with coarse threads.
Around $14.
