Not here to get into a political debate over which state is best. I was born here, love the land and despise the people "chosen" to represent me.
To all those who wish to belittle any state or region for laws that are passed, or not passed, why don't you try lending support? Or advice? After all we are all after the same thing right? Oh well, some people just like to argue....

:2c:

Also-I have made it a point to try and educate all the non-Vapers as to what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and how it has helped me be tobacco free for the longest period in my life (almost 365 days!!!:)) Hopefully everyone out there can do the same and we can start the ball rolling on getting these laws repealed and stop them from happening in other places....:toast:

Los Angeles has been in the yellow "Urgent Calls to Action" banner at the top of every ECF page for weeks. The banner lists cities, counties and states with up-coming propositions and a link to CASAA for more information.

I no longer live in Los Angeles, but I was born there and lived in a beach town most of my life. Smoking was originally banned on beaches because of cigarette butts being littered everywhere, not second-hand smoke. I can't fathom how they can justify banning e-cigs in an open space.

this,,,,,

I totally get indoor areas,,,,,,I know my vape is as safe as it can be,,,,,,but my neighbor at work might not like the smell of my juicy peach,,,,,I totally get it,,,,

but OUTDOORS? that's over reach, IMHO.

Your neighbor at work might gag over your perfume, also. Courteous vaping and courteous wearing of perfume should not be banned, period.

I'm reasonably sure if my neighbor is allergic to perfume, my boss can forbid me from wearing it,,,,,,

and again, although I'm reasonably sure my vape won't hurt anyone, we really don't KNOW that,,,,,,

First, you just made my point. There is a huge difference between a property owner/business restricting an activity vs the government enacting laws to ban an activity.

Second, you have been here long enough to have read the latest study from Drexel University that concludes there is NO concern to others from second hand vapor. Even before this study, common sense ( diminishing in this country every day) would conclude that there is nothing in vapor that can cause harm to others. So lets not support the zealots who are trying to scare the uninformed with unfounded safety concerns.

I can understand bans indoors but in a park is just ridiculous. Plus, a person using an vape device won't be dropping butts on the ground.

We are more dastardly than cigarette smokers. We toss used cartos out the car window and destroy tires beyond repair! True story in media here in Michigan.

Precisely. Thank you.

And as to "concerns" and "we don't kow whether e-cigs cause harm" - this guy says it very well indeed:
Gutfeld: Senate Democrats ignore science, block progress | Latest News Videos | Fox News

One of my favorite quotes from there:

"Her office claims there's no way of knowing whether e-cigs are harmful. - There IS, it's called science, you .... " :D

Like there haven't been any anti-vaping bans passed outside of California.

Keep up the California hate, folks. We are loving it and not joining your silly vaping lobbies just to irritate you.

I live in Kalifornia and absolutely disagree with you. I am definitely not included in your "we". You do not speak for me in the slightest way.

Yeah, FWIW I grew up in California but I've also spent 4 years in Washington State and a total of 9 in MA. I came back to California. I love it here. I'm not always happy with our legislators, but I love living here. It doesn't matter where you live, you're going to have problems. I think the e-cig fear tide will turn eventually - too many success stories and too few real issues to keep supporting legislation against it.

evan le'garde, your location is listed as "everywhere." From your post (#44), I get the impression you're not familiar with American urban "jurisprudence," such as it is.

I'm not sure about Los Angeles (though I suspect it works similarly), but in Illinois, the public health department handles everything after the cops make the complaint to them. There is no appeal from the public health department's ruling. You are found guilty on the basis of the complaint only. No evidence is presented, since the complaint as filed by the police is considered sufficient evidence of guilt, and you have no recourse. You get a bill in the mail. Either you pay the bill or, in the case of Illinois, any monies due are extracted from your state income tax refund. In extreme cases, the public health department can go to court and obtain a lien on your property.

Yeah , nahhh !. Here in the uk you can appeal everything !.

I do understand what you're saying, i have to add though, that vapour without nicotine in it shouldn't be considered illegal. The device a vaper may have been using would definitely have to have been confiscated to determine whether nicotine was being used. I doubt any law enforcement department would charge someone with an offence until they have proved to themselves an offence has actually been committed.

The way they do things in your country or state definitely isn't how things are done at all here, not judging from what you've said anyway. And they certainly don't just help themselves to a persons income tax refund. We have the right to appeal everything !. You do make it sound like vaping nicotine free e liquid in a public place is completely illegal. It couldn't possibly be, could it !?!.

If you look closely at the definitions embedded in these ordinances, that emphatically is the case. Someone vaping no-nic is treated exactly the same as someone vaping e-liquid laced with Vitamin N.

Laws like this is why I packed up the family and moved OUT of Beverly and the whole chaotic state! I lived there for a total of 8 years combined from SD to SF and there is no difference wherever you go. There is a majority of people in the State of California that are out of their ever loving minds. There is not enough money nor ammunition to ever get me to go back visiting or not! I truly do believe that this is just a stepping stone for regulation across the country so we all need to let our voices be heard! There was a little act voted upon within the State of California that was passed by an overwhelming majority and was then taken to the Supreme Court and overturned. This is what the politicians do when they don't get their way in pleasing the special interest cash cows! California Government is as corrupt as any other. Until the people stand up and take action stating their beliefs and principles, this will continue to go unchecked! I still can't understand how 7 people so far removed from society, can overturn a State approved law! Money, that's how! The BT has plenty of that and even more time!

Sorry if I offended, but this type of legislation really steams my clams. Especially in a State that has legalized other Federally banned substances! I'll take my ball and go home now! Sorry for the rant!
